Former Miami Hurricanes safety James Williams is putting his best foot forward before the 2024 NFL Draft.

Williams performed well in the Reese's Senior Bowl over the weekend, recording five tackles with one tackle for loss. The practices leading up to to the game are arguably even more important. NFL scouts and team executives watch drills closely and get opportunities to interview prospects throughout the week.

Williams, who primarily played safety at Miami, bulked up from around 220 pounds to 230 since the end of the college season. He worked primarily as a linebacker on Senior Bowl week.

According to Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy, NFL teams were impressed with Williams. Nagy sent an X post to Williams in response to James thanking the Senior Bowl for his invitation.

"Teams have already told me your willingness to work at LB and show off your versatility helped you. Appreciate the great attitude and work you put in. Best football is way ahead of you. Good luck at next level, James!"

Pro Football Network refers to Williams as a "perplexing" prospect due to his unique abilities for his size. He has the 6'5 230 pound frame of a linebacker with the coverage skills of a safety. They consider him a possible day two draft pick, meaning he could be taken in the second or third round.

Williams recorded 162 tackles, four interceptions, three force fumbles and thirteen pass breakups in three seasons at Miami.
