In this story:

The Miami Hurricanes continue to pile up talented trench players, and the following young man will play along the offensive line's interior, most likely at center.

Deryc Plazz

Size: 6-foot-5, 280 pounds

Position: Offensive Line

High School: Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin

Recruitment: Plazz made his original commitment to the Penn State Nittany Lions before flipping to the Miami Hurricanes. Other programs that made offers to Plazz include Florida State, UCF, North Carolina State, Louisville, Duke, Wake Forest, Duke, Pittsburgh, and Mississippi State among others.

Strengths: Foot speed is at a higher level than most linemen Plazz's age and/or size. He can turn a defensive lineman inside or outside by quickly bursting off the line of scrimmage and placing his hands where can best finish his block.

He's also a very intense young man that takes every play seriously. Plazz absolutely hates to lose. Seeing him in live-action, there's no doubt this young man holds his teammates and himself to a high standard.

Area to Improve: Pass protection. Plazz's athleticism is unquestioned. If he can continue to develop his pass sets and learn how to counter the moves of defensive ends, Plazz can one day don an NFL uniform.

From the 2024 Miami Commitments and Evaluations page, here’s what AllHurricanes wrote about Plazz:

Plazz's lateral movements also displayed a young man who could keep up with much smaller edge defenders in space. In fact, during running plays, he was constantly running his feet after engaging with an opponent and eventually pancaking the opposition 10-plus yards down the field. Miami has landed a prospect with vast potential.

For the Hurricanes to get over the top and win another national title, Plazz represents the type of athlete that needs to be consistently brought into the program.
