Miami Hurricanes National Signing Day: Nino Francavilla Signs Letter of Intent
The Miami Hurricanes continue to pile up talented trench players, and the following young man will play along the offensive line's interior, most likely at center.
Nino Francavilla
Size: 6-foot-3, 295 pounds
Position: Offensive Line
High School: Toronto (Canada) / Cheshire (Conn.) Cheshire Academy
Recruitment: Francavilla might be the least known prospect for the Canes because he's originally from Canada. Playing at a top-notch academic prep school in the Northeast, he's also been hidden from many scouts. Miami did its own research and jumped on Francavilla before many other programs did.
He held offers from the likes of Ivy League schools like Dartmouth, Columbia, Penn, and Harvard, plus Florida Atlantic.
Strengths: This is an old-school offensive lineman that is a grinder. Francavilla plays through the whistle and is an all-out-effort player on each snap. Does a good job of using leverage to his advantage, and he's capable of playing either center or guard for Miami.
Area to Improve: Continue to learn the game and add power and strength. He's talented, but the added mass will do Francavilla good long-term.
From the 2024 Miami Commitments and Evaluations page, here’s what AllHurricanes wrote about :
Good at blocking down and kicking out. Shoots his hands quickly. Plays with leverage and continues to chop his feet after taking on a defensive lineman or linebacker. With his athleticism, Francavilla could play guard, but with experience as a center, it's hard to imagine Mirabal wanting him away from the pivot.
Francavilla is another key cog for Miami's future offensive lines.
