NFL Draft: Tyrique Stevenson Profile and Prediction
It appears that this year's NFL Draft has some of the most speculation and uncertainty we've ever seen. It is still unclear just hours out who the number one overall pick will be, but seems to be narrowed down to C.J. Stroud, Bryce Young and Will Levis.
Along with that uncertainty, is the draft position of Miami cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, who has received first round buzz in this process after great performances at the Senior Bowl and the NFL Combine.
This isn't just coming from nobodies either, as NFL Network and Fox Sports sportscaster Peter Schrager dubbed Stevenson as a player to watch out for to jump up draft boards.
Stevenson also reportedly took Top 30 visits to the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers, two teams who could use the help of the 6-foot corner.
Additionally, NFL Draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has the Hurricanes cornerback at number seven on his final positional rankings.
It is no surprise that Stevenson is receiving high interest, as his transfer to Miami from Georgia saw him put up career-highs in tackles, pass deflection and interceptions. Furthermore, his measurables provide the Miami native with such a high ceiling. His combine measurements and results were as follows:
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 198 lbs
Arm: 32 3/8"
Hand: 9 5/8"
40 Time: 4.45
10 Yard Split: 1.51
Vertical Leap: 38.5"
Broad Jump: 10'5"
Possible Landing Spots for Stevenson
This draft class has a plethora of cornerback talent, with Illinois' Devon Witherspoon and Oregon's Christian Gonzalez expected to go in the top half of the first round. Based on assumed landing spots and team needs, the Los Angeles Rams, Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders could be in the mix.
NFL Round Projection: 2nd Round
Based on the talent, teams needs, and information thats come out, it appears that Stevenson is slotted to be selected in this range. With a lot of teams looking to add cornerback talent, Stevenson still could surprise many and be an end of the first round. However, it would be best to assume Stevenson will find his new home on Friday.
