Total Signees: 27
Quarterback: 1
Judd Anderson, 6-foot-7, 223 pounds, Gray (Ga.) Warner Robins - SIGNED
Committed April 7, 2023
Evaluations: Anderson Scouting Profile and Elite 11 Performance
Three Takeaways: Judd Anderson's Senior Film
Miami Hurricanes National Signing Day Profile: Quarterback Judd Anderson
Anderson has been an athletic signal caller who's also been good on the basketball court. Has just begun to come into his own as a quarterback with one season as the primary starter for Jones County. For 2023, Anderson is a part of the Warner Robins program where he's getting elite competition week-in and week-out.
Anderson has the size that a college football program seeks. Throwing from pocket would be his best physical skill but he can also move to the perimeter and connect with receivers while running.
Three Takeaways: Judd Anderson's Senior Film
Running Back: 2
Jordan Lyle, 6-foot, 195 pounds, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas - SIGNED
Committed Dec. 18, 2023
Ohio State Commitment Jordan Lyle Flips To Miami Hurricanes
Tremendous balance highlights Lyle's running style. Shifty feet in traffic also augment his ability to gain tough yards before and after contact. He also has the speed to make plays in the open field. Lyle is a three-down running back who's happy to be a team-first player who stays in to block for his quarterback or catch the football out of the backfield. Here's another key point.
Playing for and being a leader at STA is something else to consider as a high-level measuring stick. Lyle is a player who consistently makes plays on the field and also helps guide the younger players. Looking forward, Lyle should be a running back that competes for running back reps and also plays a role on special teams.
Chris Wheatley-Humphrey, 6 feet, 175 pounds, Dania Beach (Fla.) South Broward - SIGNED
Committed April 17, 2023
Evaluation: Wheatley-Humphrey Brings Elite Speed to Coral Gables
Chris Wheatly-Humphrey Talks 2,000 Yard Season, Becoming A Cane
Chris 'Hellcat' Wheatley-Humphrey is officially a Cane!
Wheatley-Humphrey has shown the top-end speed to make a defense pay. Whether going around the end and hitting the afterburners to outrun the defense to the end zone, or using quick feet in the hole to make a linebacker miss before going into high gear, he's proven to be hard to contain. He came onto the scene last year and has not even come close to filling out his frame yet.
Wheatley-Humphrey has also displayed the ability to break tackles despite not being a true power back; he has been a determined runner who will move the pile forward to gain valuable extra yards. Looking to the future, with Wheatley-Humphrey playing in Miami's air raid offense, he will also be a consistent matchup nightmare. Linebackers and defensive backs alike will struggle to keep up with him in the open field when he goes to the slot or runs a route out of the backfield.

Wide Receiver: 3
Ny Carr, 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County - SIGNED
Committed Oct. 8, 2023
Evaluation: Breaking Down Ny Carr With Chalupa Batman | Podcast
Miami Hurricanes National Signing Day Profile: Wide Receiver Ny Carr
Electric playmaker in the slot, out wide, or within the return game. Do not allow Carr's size to fool you; he's capable of grabbing 50-50 balls that are thrown down the field, too. After he secures the football in his hands, Carr is one of the nation's most prolific players at making defenders miss.
Expect to see him receiving jet sweeps, screens, and the traditional slot receiver package plays, but also a much wider variety of opportunities are there for him because he's adept at defeating press coverage. There's also another important factor with him coming to Miami. Combining him with Robinson and Trader, Carr's tremendous combination of skills will blend in well for the Hurricanes passing attack.
Chance Robinson, 6-foot-2, 190 pounds, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas - SIGNED
Committed April 14, 2023
Scouting: Robinson Becoming an All-Around Wide Receiver
Chance Robinson Sticks With Canes
Best known for his abilities to run by defensive backs, Robinson's game-changing speed and elusiveness have been utilized time and time again by the offense for the Raiders.
What helped to make Robinson an even better all-around receiver than other players at his position with speed would be his quick feet at the line, and mixing up moves near the line of scrimmage to quickly gain separation from cornerbacks. Robinson's skills have also included taking short passes and making defenders miss in space to gain big yardage after the catch.
More: Chance Robinson Discusses His Miami Commitment
Joshisa Trader, 6-foot-1, 175 pounds, Miami (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna - SIGNED
Committed July 13, 2023
Scouting: What Makes Joshisa Trader A Special Wide Receiver
Top South Florida WR Joshisa Trader Stays Home To Play For Canes
For starters, elite hand-eye coordination has allowed Joshisa Trader to work towards being one of the best wide receivers and football recruits within the class of 2024. He's a natural at making difficult catches look easy. Quick feet and an explosive first step have also been demonstrated time and time again when opposing players wanted to play press-man coverage against him.
He quickly turned the tables and turned cornerbacks around, as well as stacked them to gain an advantage for the quarterback to throw Trader the football. A player who has consistently been able to run crisp routes, Trader also does really well after the catch. His ability to stop-and-start has kept defenders off guard, and the lateral quickness to change direction, even if for just a couple of steps, that allowed him to create big plays has been commonplace.
Tight End: 1
Elija Lofton, 6-foot-1, 215 pounds, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman - SIGNED
Committed on June 15, 2023
Evaluation: Elija Lofton Brings Versatility to Coral Gables
Elija Lofton Signs With The Miami Hurricanes
As versatile an offensive skill player as one will have found in America. That's Lofton. He's been a mainstay for Bishop Gorman's offensive attack as a traditional tight end, flex tight end, H-back, fullback, slot receiver, and even a split end. Most importantly, Lofton has showcased his skills in a manner that's allowed not only himself, but his teammates, to make game-changing plays.
Tremendous hands were displayed on film that helped him win 50-50 balls. Lofton also ran over and around defenders after running the football or catching it. When he was at his best, quite often though, it's when he blocked for the running backs and receivers. Lofton will be a player who can find a role with Miami's offense as a freshman.
Offensive Line: 4
Markel Bell, 6-foot-8, 335 pounds, Goodman (Miss.) Holmes Community College - SIGNED
Committed Nov. 3, 2023
Markel Bell Signs With Miami Hurricanes
Huge, powerful, and with a tremendous wingspan, Bell also provides a surprisingly quick pass set that should allow him to compete at left tackle for the Hurricanes. Additionally, good lateral mobility allows him to be effective during outside-zone plays. Considering his height and weight, it’s impressive to watch him move smaller and quicker players out of the play.
During power run plays, that’s when Bell’s reach is often its most dominant. Many defenders simply could not avoid his reach, and Bell’s power took over from there. Miami beat out Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and other college football programs for Bell’s services.
Nino Francavilla, 6-foot-3, 295 pounds, Toronto (Canada) / Cheshire (Conn.) Cheshire Academy - SIGNED
Committed July 31, 2023
Scouting: Francavilla Provides Athleticism, intelligence and Effort
Nino Francavilla Signs With Miami Hurricanes
Originally from Canada, Francavilla is a great story of a young man who's working to be great. He came down to The U and worked out for offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and later received an offer. Quickness would be a primary strong suit; reaches the second level like a veteran offensive lineman.
Good at blocking down and kicking out. Shoots his hands quickly. Plays with leverage and continues to chop his feet after taking on a defensive lineman or linebacker. With his athleticism, Francavilla could play guard, but with experience as a center, it's hard to imagine Mirabal wanting him away from the pivot.
Juan Minaya, 6-foot-6, 325 pounds, Paramus (N.J.) Catholic - SIGNED
Committed on April 18, 2023
Scouting: Minaya Can Play Guard or Tackle
National Signing Day: Miami Hurricanes Gain Juan Minaya's Signature
Playing for one of the most prominent programs in New Jersey, Minaya brings size and power to the University of Miami. He played left tackle for Catholic this past season and was a road grader within the run game. He gains leverage during an outside zone with quick feet or moves toward the second level and seals off a linebacker after initially working with another offensive lineman to double-team a defensive tackle.
Overall, his abilities consistently included physicality. That's something that Mario Cristobal wanted more of when he took over the UM program. Minaya trekked to South Florida to take in Miami's 2023 spring game before making his verbal commitment.
Deryc Plazz, 6-foot-5, 280 pounds, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin - SIGNED
Committed July 7, 2023
Deryc Plazz Set To Bolster Miami Hurricanes
Deryc Plazz Signs National Letter Of Intent With Miami Hurricanes
One of the most interesting offensive line prospects nationally, Plazz's athleticism and power make him a candidate to play center, guard, or tackle for the Hurricanes. During his junior season, Plazz concentrated his efforts on playing left tackle. His pass pro displayed him being a true athlete who could bend at the knees and generate power through his hips.
Plazz's lateral movements also displayed a young man who could keep up with much smaller edge defenders in space. In fact, during running plays, he was constantly running his feet after engaging with an opponent and eventually pancaking the opposition 10-plus yards down the field. Miami has landed a prospect with vast potential.
Edge: 4
Armondo Blount, 6-foot-3, 252 pounds, Miami (Fla.) Central - SIGNED
Committed Dec. 20, 2023
Miami Beats Florida State For 5-Star Armondo Blount
Blount is a reclassified 2025 recruit with the natural strength, athleticism, and intelligence to compete on the gridiron and the classroom at a high level. Yes, he's an elite academic performer and that will aid his football development as well.
As a player, Blount's first-step quickness stands out when watching his highlights and seeing him live. The first game of the 2023 season gave witness to Blount accounting for six sacks alone. His natural skills off the edge are not all about speed either.
He will go from a speed-to-power move and push an offensive tackle into the backfield. Sometimes Blount will start out fast to the outside, plant his outside foot, and then burst back towards the interior and undercut the offensive tackle on his way toward the quarterback. He has a bevy of moves. As he develops, there's an opportunity to diversify even more.
Blount could see reps along the interior of the defensive line as his body fills out. Even if that means playing 3-technique during passing downs only, it's a way to place a talented defensive tackle against an offensive guard. That would work in Miami's favor.
Marquise Lightfoot, 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood Academy - SIGNED
Committed July 3, 2023
Evaluation: Lightfoot's Upside Is Tremendous!
Miami Signs Chicago Pass Rusher Marquise Lightfoot
Natural edge rusher who can dip his shoulder, bend, keep good speed, and come around the corner to knock down the opposing quarterback. Lightfoot has the speed to chase down plays from the backside as well. A quick first step has helped to make his pursuit produce big results. Already starting to add good weight to his upper body. That's the next step, getting stronger to consistently take on offensive tackles in the run game.
When Lightfoot wanted to play power football, however, he's often shown the ability to counter and take an inside route through the B gap. Finally, he played with a lot of energy and would chase plays across the football field. Miami landed a truly talented defender in Lightfoot.
Cole McConathy, 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, Spanish Fort (Ala.) High School - SIGNED
Committed Nov. 15, 2023
VIDEO: Cole McConathy Jumps Out Of A Pool And Onto A Pool Deck
Cole McConathy Signs Letter Of Intent With Miami Hurricanes
One of the most versatile defenders in the 2024 Miami recruiting class. That's easy to recognize just by watching his senior film and the different positions McConathy plays.
More specifically, McConathy is a front-seven defender who's coming to Miami with experience as a standup outside linebacker and rushing the passer, down-lineman playing over a guard or tackle, and playing outside linebacker and dropping into coverage.
Whatever McConathy does, he goes all-out. Looking closely at his frame, it's easy to project him as a defensive end within a 4-3 scheme at the next level. That's something Lance Guidry and Miami operate but also use a variation of three-man lines where there's a standup outside linebacker as well. McConathy will fit into either spot and do well.
McConathy possesses several pass-rush moves that he uses quickly and effectively including stab, rip, long-arm, and a dip-and-rip combination, among others.
Elias Rudolph, 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, Cincinnati (Ohio) Taft - SIGNED
Committed Aug. 12, 2023
Miami Hurricanes Have Officially Signed Elias Rudolph
Tremendously long arms, a sudden change of direction ability that's uncanny for a 6-foot-4 football player, and open-field speed that resembles a strong safety more than an edge defender, that's Rudolph. Just the way he looks when lining up just outside of the opposing offensive tackle, it's obvious that he's a natural to rush the passer.
The final culmination of why Rudolph is a tremendous recruit would be his effort. He runs down plays from across the field with an all-out sprint. One cannot teach this young man's desire. Rudolph certainly needs to add weight to his frame but he possesses the frame, athleticism, and desire to be a great college football player.
Defensive Tackle: 3
Artavius Jones, 6-foot-4, 305 pounds, Blountstown (Fla.) High School - SIGNED

Miami Commitment Artavius Jones: Practice Notes and Recruiting Update
Canes Sign Talented Defensive Tackle Artavius Jones
Jones brings size, power, and athleticism to Coral Gables. To help define his talent, Jones has been athletic enough to play tight end even though he was over 280 pounds last season. Jones also broke down and moved laterally after going full-steam ahead, which allowed him to chase down ball carriers from a variety of places at or near the line of scrimmage. Seeing a defender run down an opponent that's 100 pounds lighter, now that was eye-opening!
While pass rushing, he often created first contact and jolted his opponent and then used his quickness to create sacks and tackles for loss in the backfield. Watching him run might have been the best way to project Jones to the college level. When he ran at top speed, it was natural and resembled players of a much smaller height and weight. It's going to be fun watching him develop at the University of Miami.
Aug. 22 Update: Seeing Jones in person, that was different. He moves like a player that's 50 to 75 pounds lighter than he actually was. His ability to bend and change direction, in particular, were big-time positives. Upside: through the roof. See the article in bold just above for a complete update.
Daylen Russell, 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, Miami (Fla.) Christopher Columbus - SIGNED
Committed May 27, 2023
Junior Evaluation: Russell Brings Versatility to Miami's Defense
Senior Evaluation: Russell's Size Projects Him at Defensive Tackle
Miami Recruiting: Canes Add 'Major' Defensive Tackle Talent
Daylen Russell Signs With Miami Hurricanes
An all-around front seven defender who has played standing up as a rush linebacker, as well as being in a three-point stance within both three-man and four-man lines. Russell's versatility will provide the Hurricanes with many options to pair him with other recent recruits like Rueben Bain and Jayden Wayne from the 2023 recruiting class, among others.
Among his best attributes would be the ability to set the edge first and foremost, but also the proven capabilities as a pass rusher, being a strong run defender that's fended off big offensive linemen before making a play, and also showcasing open-field speed. Update: Russell's future position prognosis changed. He will now likely end up playing along the defensive line's interior. At 275 pounds, he will be able to play 3-technique or possibly even nose guard, depending on the front and situation, from play to play. He's one of the more unique recruits in the 2024 class.
Justin Scott, 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius - SIGNED
Committed Nov. 29, 2023
Justin Scott Makes It Official, Signs With Miami Hurricanes
Powerful and agile, Scott is an unusual defensive tackle because he provides all of the size, athleticism, and natural agility that is usually seen with players who weigh 240 or 250 pounds. He's capable of playing 5-technique in a 4-3 during short-yardage situations or being a true defensive end within a 3-man line scheme.
Yes, Scott can play nose guard, but that's not his best position long-term. In a perfect world, he's playing in an up-the-field 4-3 defense. That just happens to be what the Hurricanes operate under Lance Guidry.
Scott will need to continue to refine the technical aspects of his game, but he's an absolutely elite talent and one that could play early in Coral Gables. Miami's gain is Ohio State's loss.
Linebacker: 3
Adarius Hayes, 6-foot-4, 225 pounds, Largo (Fla.) High School - SIGNED
Committed Dec. 20, 2023
Adarius Hayes Flips From Florida Gators To Miami Hurricanes
Video: Adarius Hayes Discusses Picking Miami Over Florida
An old-school linebacker with a tremendous hitting power. Hayes is a recruit that's been on the radar for three years or longer, and for good reason. He has the size to play right away and loves football. There's a good chance he plays more than one position at Miami, too.
He's been a middle linebacker for Largo High School, but at 6-foot-4, he's still growing into his frame. He was 210 to 215 last season and is now 10 pounds heavier and still no place done filling out. Could Hayes play defensive end? Absolutely.
Hayes is also open to it based on previous conversations. Do not be fooled because Hayes has the speed to run with running backs and make plays in space. A tremendous prospect and a fantastic young man.
Booker Pickett, Jr., 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, Tampa (Fla.) Wharton - SIGNED
Committed Oct. 19, 2023
Booker Pickett, Jr. Follows in Family Footsteps And Signs With Miami Hurricanes
Nov. 5 Update: Pickett plays a combination of outside linebacker and off-ball linebacker for Wharton. Seeing him live on Nov. 3, his ability to get into his drop quickly became quite evident. Just as important, Pickett shows easy change-of-direction skills. Here's an example.
A swing pass to Pickett's side. Even with a lead blocker, Pickett quickly outran that offensive lineman, and also used his speed and length to close the distance between himself and the running back. Even though it was a good pass and the running back saw Pickett headed his direction, the future Hurricane made a great open-field tackle at the line of scrimmage. That's why the Canes coaching staff wants to start him off at the same spot that current Miami linebacker Wesley Bissainthe plays.
Long-term, there's still the pass-rushing ability as well. Here's the original evaluation for Pickett. He's still going to use some of those same skills for the Canes, moving forward.
A natural edge rusher that went for 22 sacks as a mere sophomore. Pickett's game is expanding and Pickett could play either outside linebacker as a Hurricane. Best attributes include first-step explosiveness, ability to bend the edge, arm length, and open-field speed to chase offensive players down from behind.
Pickett will need to add weight to his long and lean frame. One cannot teach his natural length and athleticism, however. He's from a football family and both of his parents attended the University of Miami.
Cam Pruitt, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, Theodore (Ala.) High School - SIGNED
Committed June 10, 2023
Chalupa Batman Interviews Cam Pruitt
Miami Hurricanes Sign Alabama Football Recruit Cameron Pruitt
Pruitt brings speed, hitting power, instincts, and versatility to Coral Gables. He’s not the biggest player, but like many former Canes who gained weight after on campus, he will develop into a starting linebacker one day. For now, he should be considered a strong safety and hybrid linebacker. He will be able to cover running backs and receivers in space while still being a factor in the running game.
Pruitt has tracked the ball carrier throughout his high school career and will get even better with added size from the Miami strength and conditioning program. When pitted against a big offensive lineman in high school, he has not backed down either. Additionally, during open-field tackling situations, Pruitt has shown a propensity for making plays against talented athletes. This young man brings a lot of talent and upside to The U.
Cornerback: 2
Romanas Frederique, Jr., 6 feet, 170 pounds, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas - SIGNED
Committed June 30, 2023
Evaluation: Frederique Brings Speed and Length
Get to know Frederique and why he chose Miami
Miami Hurricanes Sign Cornerback Romanas Frederique
A twitchy playmaker that preferred bump-and-run coverage, that’s Frederique. He’s a long-armed playmaker from all three phases of the game. Tremendous punt return skills have been shown, has shown the hands to be an impactful wide receiver, and won numerous battles versus South Florida’s talented pass catchers.
Frederique’s upside as a cornerback will be the key component as a member of the Hurricanes. Miami needed more length and speed at the field and boundary cornerback positions. Frederique could eventually play either as he fills out his wiry frame. Look for him to end up at over 185 pounds before he leaves The U. Finally, expect the Miami staff to develop Frederique into a pure cover corner that can challenge top Power 5 receivers during the most difficult of situations.
Ryan Mack, 5-foot-11, 170 pounds, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas - SIGNED
Committed June 26, 2023
Evaluation: Breaking Down Mack's Game
Cornerback Ryan Mack Signs With Miami Hurricanes
Mack has consistently shown tremendous feet when backpedaling, changing direction, and breaking on the football. With his all-around defensive back skills having been shown numerous times for STA, South Florida Express 7v7, and during the camp scene, it's been proven that he's also a quality athlete who can run in space and stay with speedy wide receivers.
That's where the fun began, as projecting Mack's position leads to multiple roles. Yes, playing field corner would make sense as he's been in that spot for quite some time during his prep career. Mack's physical traits and skills, combined with his competitive nature, have made him a unique nickel cornerback prospect. Depending on how an opposing offense has lined up, Mack will be able to help the Canes counter at multiple spots. That's an additional value that not all cornerbacks have been able to do.
Safety: 2
Zaquan Patterson, 6-foot-1, 198 pounds, Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna - SIGNED
Committed Aug. 26, 2023
Evaluation: Zaquan Patterson's Impact
5-Star Zaquan Patterson Signs With Miami Hurricanes
One of the nation's most versatile defenders, Patterson is a tremendous centerfielder as a free safety, in-the-box safety to slow the run, and he's capable of being a versatile nickel back that can play against wide receivers, running backs, and tight ends. Natural timing and being a confident player who goes for the big play would be additional aspects of why Patterson excels. An excellent frame and hard work are also why he's nearly 200 pounds now.
He's also a highly intelligent young man who will one day operate the Hurricanes' defensive play calls. He's consistently shown leadership throughout his time at Chaminade-Madonna and with Defcon1 7v7. Tremendous talent and Miami's class benefits from him staying home. Look for Patterson to make an early contribution to the Hurricanes as they will likely lose not only 2022 All-American Kamren Kinchens but probably James Williams as well. The door is open for Patterson to play.
Isaiah Thomas, 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Clearwater (Fla.) Clearwater Academy International - SIGNED
Committed April 19, 2023
Evaluation: Scouting Profile For Thomas
Isaiah Thomas Has Signed With The Miami Hurricanes
Originally from Toronto before transferring to CAI, Thomas will provide Cristobal and the Canes with a rangy safety who can also help out by being a slot defender and even a blitzer off the edge. Thomas has been built differently, too. He has been blessed with a tremendous 6-7.5 wingspan.
Thomas has a sudden burst from a standing position that's unique for a player his size. Combined with his coil and strike, that speed translated to really good hitting power. There's room for Thomas to grow to at least 215 pounds, yet with his natural athleticism and flexibility, he will be able to continue to play like a safety while being the size of a modern outside linebacker.

Dylan Day Signs With Miami Hurricanes
Miami Hurricanes Recruiting: Getting To Know The 'Hidden Gems'
The connections to Louisiana helped to land the services of Day. Miami's defensive coordinator and safeties coach Lance Guidry hails from the Bayou State and he was a primary part of his recruitment. Day's speed, ball-tracking ability, and natural propensity for being a hitter make him an interesting player for multiple spots in the secondary.
He could end up at nickel, safety, or even cornerback. He's far from filled out, but Day's natural skills and aggressive playing style will lead him to the defensive side of the football. When Day does come up with the football via an interception, he has also shown the ability to take off and be a threat to score.
