ST. Thomas Wide Receiver Chance Robinson Commits to Miami
The Miami Hurricanes picked up an important verbal commitment for the 2024 recruiting cycle with Chance Robinson announcing his decision on Friday just after the program’s spring game.
Coming from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas, Robinson has been a playmaker for the Raiders at wide rceiver. The speed to run by defensive backs, elusiveness to take a screen the distance, and the hand-eye coordination to haul in difficult receptions have helped to define Robinson’s game.
UM seized momentum in Robinson's recruitment after the hire of Kevin Beard as the program's wide receivers coach, who was in touch soon after accepting the gig.
"It was one of the most honest conversations I've had with any college coach in the country," Robinson recently told All Hurricanes. "I just felt a different vibe from him. It was just a more genuine and long conversation than I usually have with coaches. That's just a great sign from a coach. Honestly, it just kind of blew my mind because I've really never felt that way (from) a conversation with a coach."
Also playing for South Florida Express, Robinson has been one of the most productive wide receivers during the seven-on-seven circuit. His explosiveness was witnessed many times as he raced past defenders.
Here’s where the major recruiting outlets have ranked Robinson:
247
- nationally (135), wide receiver (22), and Florida (25)
ESPN
- nationally (209), wide receiver (28), regional (94), and state (29)
On3
- nationally (130), wide receiver (25), and state (17)
Rivals
- nationally (201), wide receiver (34), and state (27)
Looking back at Robinson’s recruitment, he was a player that earned national offers from the likes of Miami, Florida, Florida State, UCF, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Arkansas, Auburn, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Penn State, Nebraska, Michigan, Michigan State, and Colorado among others. Miami's previous staff offered and the new one confirmed over the summer.
“Well, I’ve been watching Miami since I was like a kid-kid, young," Robinson said after working out at Legends Camp. "Always growing up watching Miami. My dad is a Canes fan. I’ve been a Canes fan since I was little, always going to Canes’ games, so it’s really a big thing for me, Miami, honestly.”
Robinson also took unofficial visits to several programs like Penn State and Georgia before coming to a decision to attend The U. He took in Miami in March and then several times in April, with plans to be at Friday's spring game as well.
After the Hurricanes earned the commitment of quarterback Judd Anderson on April 7, Robinson’s commitment was another important recruiting pickup for the Canes for another reason, too.
Head coach Mario Cristobal has been trying to keep as many of South Florida’s top playmakers at home as possible. Not only did Robinson come from Broward County, he has been a part of the state champion Saint Thomas Aquinas program that’s consistently produced top-notch college talent.
It was a great day for Miami recruiting with Robinson now being a part of the Hurricanes family.
