Hurricanes Land National Defensive Tackle Recruit Artavius Jones!
Artavius Jones Commits to Miami, Defensive Tackle Recruiting Receives a Needed Jolt!
The Miami Hurricanes struck big on Friday night with Artavius Jones. He plays defensive tackle, the position the Canes need to shore up the most within the class of 2024.
At 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, Jones possesses the quick feet, change of direction skills, and explosiveness to thrive in a one-gap, get-up-the-field defense like the Hurricanes employ. If there’s anyone celebrating more in Coral Gables than Joe Salave’a, the person in charge of the interior defensive linemen.
He should be excited about the talented prospect from Blountstown (Fla.) High School!
While it took a while for Jones to earn a bunch of football scholarship offers, boy oh boy did they ever come. Among the many scholarships Jones has to select from, he chose Miami. Along the way, he has also picked up offers from Florida State, UCF, Georgia, Mississippi State, Tennessee, LSU, Maryland, Illinois, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Oklahoma among others.
Here’s how the recruiting rankings broke down for Jones, with rankings in order of national, position and state:
ESPN
: 111, 7, and 17
247
: 123, 19 and 18
Rivals
: Unranked, 26, and 92
On3
: 191, 18, and 28
Congratulations to the Miami staff for reeling in Jones, the 18th overall commitment for 2024. Additionally, he helps Miami reach a plateau of 10 of the 18 commitments coming from inside the Sunshine State (55.6%).
