Cornerback Ryan Mack Signs With Miami Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes sign top South Florida cornerback Ryan Mack
In this story:

The Miami Hurricanes want to sign South Florida's best football recruits. National Signing Day is showing that Mario Cristobal and his staff are doing just that.

Ryan Mack

Size: 5-foot-11, 170 pounds

Position: Cornerback

High School: Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas

Recruitment: With his father being former Miami linebacker Rod Mack (1996-1999), the Canes certainly held a considerable advantage for the young Mack's signature. He made his pledge to the Canes on June 26, 2023.

Strengths: It's hard to find a cornerback who's more consistent with his technique than Mack. He's also an instinctive cornerback who does an excellent job of breaking on the football and creating big plays.

Area to Improve: Adding more strength to play against bigger receivers will be a priority. Mack's technique, for a recent prep player, is tremendous. He just needs more muscle to help jam 200-plus-pound receivers and be more impactful versus screens and the run game.

From the 2024 Miami Commitments and Evaluations page, here’s what AllHurricanes states about Mack:

Mack has consistently shown tremendous feet when backpedaling, changing direction, and breaking on the football. With his all-around defensive back skills having been shown numerous times for STA, South Florida Express 7v7, and during the camp scene, it's been proven that he's also a quality athlete who can run in space and stay with speedy wide receivers.

Mack is continuing his family's legacy at The U, and Canes fans will enjoy seeing this young man play.
