Miami Beats Florida State For 5-Star Armondo Blount

Miami wins intense recruiting battle for Miami Central's Armondo Blount
In this story:

National Signing Day has been good to the Miami Hurricanes, and it just got a whole lot better! 5-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount has picked Mario Cristobal and the Canes!

His recruiting story has been unusual, as the Miami (Fla.) Central talent was originally a class of 2025 prospect. He reclassified to the 2024 class earlier this fall. An elite student, Blount was a natural fit for someone to make that jump.

He also made an original commitment to the Hurricanes on Sep. 14. Because he was considered a top-10 player in the 2025 class, and ended up being the #21 player in the nation for the 2024 class despite moving up a year, Miami still had to fend off other suitors.

That's when Florida State came after Blount even harder than before. In fact, Blount flipped his commitment to the Seminoles on Oct. 22. Blount's recruitment was kind of like an old saying, back and forth we go.

Cristobal and the Canes kept after Blount. Recently, there were signs that Blount was going to flip back to the Canes including multiple in-home visits with Miami coaches.

As for what the Canes have gained with Blount, check out the article from Alex Donno about the 6-foot-3 and 250-pound Blount:

At the end of the day, Miami got a whole lot better with Blount a part of the 2024 recruiting class.
