Transfer Portal News: Miami's Colbie Young To Enter Portal

Young Was The Hurricanes' Third Leading Receiver This Season And Will Now Look Elsewhere
In this story:

The transfer portal never sleeps, as another Miami Hurricane has expressed their intent to enter the portal this evening.

ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that Miami wideout Colbie Young will enter the transfer portal. Young transferred to Miami from JUCO Lackawanna College, and played two seasons for the Hurricanes. Young chose Miami over Florida State, Tennessee, Penn State and many others.

Across his two seasons, Young posted 79 receptions, 939 yards, and 10 touchdowns as a Hurricane. Young burst onto the scene for Miami after consecutive 100-yard games against Duke and Virginia Tech in 2022.

Miami's top outside receiver (X-receiver) standing at 6'5", it appears that redshirt freshman Isaiah Horton would be next in line to take over for Young if Miami doesn't go to the portal for his replacement.

This doesn't come as much of a surprise, as Young's production and targets gradually decreased throughout the season with the success of Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo.

Miami's incoming class does feature three Top 30 receivers right now, but it is uncertain if any would be great immediate fits in the WR-X spot.

All could change drastically if Miami is able to land a top quarterback in the portal, as they could leverage that to bring in a high-quality option in replacement of Young.

Now with four Miami offensive starters either in the portal or going to the draft, Mario Cristobal and his staff will have to utilize the new age transfer portal and the rest of their recruiting class to improve upon the 7-5 season.
