Ricky Knight III Picks Florida State Over Miami
You cannot win them all. That was the case with Ricky Knight III from Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Cardinal Newman.
He announced for the Seminoles, in what was a hotly contested recruitment. The Seminoles and Canes have long since gone after the same top prospects throughout the Sunshine State, and Knight was the latest.
Knight’s official visit up to Tallahassee took place on June 16 to see Mike Norvell and his coaching staff. One week later, he took a shorter trip, southward towards Coral Gables for another official visit that included seeing Mario Cristobal and his assistant coaches.
The only other official visit that Knight went on was to Illinois on June 9. He does have numerous other offers including but not limited to UCF, Penn State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Louisville, Texas A&M, Wake Forest and Florida Atlantic.
As for the Hurricanes, they were able to land two other cornerbacks this week, each now set to play for Saint Thomas Aquinas. On June 25, the Hurricanes landed Ryan Mack, and then on June 30 it was Romanas Frederique, Jr.
The decision that comes later this evening with Miami (Fla.) Palmetto wide receiver Jacory Barney is the next decision involving the Canes. That will take place at 7 p.m. He’s down to Texas A&M, Nebraska and Miami.
For now, at least, the Hurricanes have secured 14 verbal commitments in the 2024 recruiting class.
All Hurricanes will have a recruiting class overview article tomorrow, breaking down where things stand on each side of the football. Make sure to check it out.
