Miami recruiting coverage takes center stage
In this story:

We start today with props to one of Miami's 2024 recruits being the #1 running back by On3.

Congratulations to Jordan Lyle for all his hard work and dedication. People are noticing as they well should!

Lyle is a barometer of the modern game. He runs, catches, and blocks with equal effort. That's what it takes to be a tremendous college football player. Do not be surprised if Lyle earns significant playing time for the Hurricanes in 2024.

Here's part of his AllHurricanes evaluation from the 2024 commitments page.

"Tremendous balance highlights Lyle's running style. Shifty feet in traffic also augment his ability to gain tough yards before and after contact. He also has the speed to make plays in the open field. Lyle is a three-down running back who's happy to be a team-first player who stays in to block for his quarterback or catch the football out of the backfield."

Will Luke Nickel's High School Teammate join him at Miami?

When speaking with Miami quarterback commitment Luke Nickel during the Battle seven-on-seven tournament, he brought up that wide receiver CJ Wiley is not only playing for C1N (Cam Newton's 7v7 team), but he's also a Nickel's teammate at Milton (Ga.) High School.

Watching him catch numerous touchdowns during the Battle tournament (some of which are in the video of Nickel below), it's easy to see why Nickel likes to throw to him no matter which uniform they are wearing.

Miami coaches were just at Milton High School to check in with Nickel and Wiley. Wiley's tweet makes one wonder if he'd also like to head to Coral Gables for college. Here's the video featuring Nicekl from the tournament (Wiley is the Rivals 4-star receiver who's 6-foot-4 and catches multiple touchdown passes in the back of the end zone).

Miami coaches Back in Alabama

The Hurricanes hosted Enterprise (Ala.) High School edge rusher Zion Grady this past weekend and wants to be a prime option for the best recruits coming from the Yellowhammer State.

Right down the road from Enterprise is Elba, a small town with a big-time talent in Alvin Henderson. The 2025 running back plays for Elba High School and registered 61 rushing scores this past season.

The Canes are making a push to land his services and he just had three Miami coaches at his school. Auburn is often considered to be the best bet to land him but there's a long way to go with his recruitment.

UM Legend Joins Locked On Canes

Tuesday's episode of Locked On Canes has former UM great Don Soldinger joining the Miami discussion. Soldinger was a mainstay of Miami's coaching staff in the 1980s and then later in the 1990s during a second stint at UM.

Some of the great players he helped make Miami great would be Michael Barrow, Edgerrin James, and Willis McGahee. It's a great episode of Locked On Canes with recruiting information, discussion about Miami's glory days, and more! Here's the YouTube version:
