In this story:

There were also a lot of former great Hurricanes there, too. Alonzo HighsmithBryant McKinnie, Rohan Marley, Andre Johnson, Gino Torretta, and Willis McGahee were just a few of the former greats on hand.

Now on to some recruiting news.

***First up, Joshisa Trader. He came and competed at wide receiver today. Afterwards, a few questions for him as he slowly prepares to start his official visit schedule in the fall.

When asked about his likely official visits, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Ohio State were brought up and he agreed they would be likely trips. He also added another.

“I might go to Penn State,” Trader said of a possible sixth official visit. One of the key components for the chances of him heading over there for a visit would be assistant coach Ja’Juan Seider.

“He just vibes differently, you know. He comes correct. He comes respectfully.”

While Penn State would probably be playing catch up, the Seminoles and the Hurricanes would be the likely be the teams to watch here. Specifically talking about the Canes, it was obvious that Trader was very comfortable with the staff and the surroundings.

Trader was also asked about competing on a daily basis with Jeremiah Smith, a close friend and teammate at Chaminade-Madonna where each of them play. So, do Trader truly compete with each other and attempt to learn off of the other’s moves?

“It’s one of the best competitions, because I see things he does. He also sees things that I do,” Trader said with a smile.

As for how good he expects the Chaminade-Madonna offense to be, here’s what Trader said.

“We’re fixing to be unstoppable.”

As for his last go-round with the prep ranks, Trader was happy to discuss that topic.

“What’s got me excited? It’s my brothers I’ve been playing with since Little League. So I want to go out with a bang.”

Next up, just observing the size and length of defensive line recruit Kamarion Franklin helped to once again see why he was so highly coveted. Cannot teach that young man’s size. He has a quick first step as well. Lots of upside there.

The fact that he came back down to Miami for an unofficial visit was a good sign. He was recently at UM for an official visit. As of now, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Miami would be the likely candidates to sign Franklin.

Now for some quick hitters from seeing numerous prospects running around the Miami indoor facility.

***2024 Saint Thomas Aquinas cornerback Ryan Mack came to compete. He’s one of the most technically sound cornerbacks in the entire 2024 class and he could end up at nickel in addition to cornerback.

***2024 Defensive back Fred Gaskin came all the way down from Ocala (Fla.) Vanguard. He had some great reps during one-on-ones. Keep his name in mind for down the line.

***2025 quarterback Carter Smith, from Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot, came to throw and had a good time. Miami, Florida and a few other schools have caught his attention. Watch out for the Canes though, as that’s his dad’s side of the family’s favorite college football team.

Plus, he’s built a good relationship with Miami offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Shannon Dawson.

***An underclassman that was offered along the defensive line would be Jarquez Carter from Newberry (Fla.) High School. He's already received a bunch of offers and he's a top student as well.

***Class of 2026 signal caller Carter Emanuel showed a good arm and tremendous size for his age. He’s from Orlando (Fla.) Lake Nona and could end up being one of the top quarterbacks in his class.

***2025 athlete Waden Charles was fantastic playing wide receiver, especially after the drills went outside. He's been playing for Boyton Beach (Fla.) Somerset Academy. Charles tracked multiple passes over his shoulder and made those catches look easy. He has a plethora of offers including one from the Hurricanes.

There were several other prospects in attendance. All Hurricanes will have more updates coming during the next few days.
