Miami Recruiting: Zaquan Patterson, Artavius Jones, and Luke Nickel | Podcast
The Miami Hurricanes recruiting efforts have produced a talented 2024 commitment list to date, and they await the decision of 5-star safety Zaquan Patterson this Saturday.
The Canes already secured two talented safety recruits in Dylan Day and Isaiah Thomas, but eventually adding Patterson would be too good to pass up as the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna prospect has proven to be a college star in the making. There’s much to discuss with defensive tackle recruiting as well.
After reflecting upon watching Artavius Jones practice and evaluating the Miami defensive tackle depth chart, the Canes truly are fortunate to have the big guy committed. Few college football programs have secured the services of a defensive tackle as talented as Jones – or as big as him – like the The U did already.
Miami’s 2024 class still has not yet met all of its needs at defensive tackle; the Canes need at least one more big-bodied interior defensive lineman to go along with the Blountstown (Fla.) High School recruit. What will the Hurricanes be able to accomplish?
There's big-time defensive tackle prospect Aydin Breland, but he may not decide until National Signing Day. It's going to be interesting to see how the Canes approach defensive tackle recruiting down the stretch. Finally, hard to not be impressed with Miami’s first 2025 commitment.
If you did not already watch quarterback Luke Nickel on film, it’s worth the time. Here’s a recent clip from Twitter regarding Nickel’s first game with Milton (Ga.) High School:
The Hurricanes probably could not have started the 2025 class with a bigger bang than gaining the commitment of a big-time signal caller like Nickel. He’s already well known by other recruits and will help build the 2025 recruiting class just with his name recognition alone.
The overall talents of Nickel were pretty clear after his sophomore season, but having seen the advancements from Nickel’s first junior game, it would be hard to argue against him being an elite Miami player in time. Here’s the podcast:
