Transfer Portal: Miami Lands Savion Riley

Miami stays hot and gains a commitment from former Vanderbilt safety Savion Riley

The Miami Hurricanes are rolling with the 2024 recruiting class the Transfer Portal. The latest commitment would be Savion Riley from Vanderbilt.

The true freshman must be a fast learner. His 2023 statistics are as follows: 34 solo and 14 assisted tackles playing for the Commodores.

He's originally from Acworth (Ga.) Kennesaw Mountain. A 3-star recruit out of high school, Riley is proof that scouting is hard, especially with relation to how fast a young man can pick up a playbook and produce.

Riley is listed at 6-foot-2 and 202 pounds. It will be interesting to see if he ends up playing more toward the line of scrimmage or if he's better as a traditional free safety who acts as a centerfielder.

It's also good to land Riley with Miami losing quality talent off of its 2023 defense like Kamren Kinchens at safety. Riley could be a major part of the Canes bringing more talent back into the fold.
