Monarch Football on the Rise
The Coconut Creek (Fla.) Monarch Knights are coming off a 9-3 season and playoff appearance in 2022 on the back of an explosive offense that averaged roughly 400 yards of total offense per game.
With the 2023 seasonjust around the corner, the Knights are gearing up for another productive year on the gridiron led by an explosive trio on offense. To get a better idea of what has helped Monarch improve, quarterback and wide receivers coach Zackery Poole was asked about his skills players.
“These three guys, Jabari, Samurai and A.J. are 3 of the most amazing kids I have ever coached. I mean yes, they have the talent, the size and the hype, but what you don’t see is what makes them special.
“Workouts at closed parks with headlights as the light. It’s a joy to see these young men put in the work and be humble, and be disciplined enough to chase their dreams!
“I’d say the greatest part is also how they work together; no
selfishness. Our mind set is a ring no matter what !!!! Again probably three of the best athletes and young men I have ever had the privilege to coach.”
From an evaluation standpoint, here’s what each of these three recruits can do on the gridiron.
A.J. Hairston 3-star Quarterback, Class of 2024
It starts with their captain & leader on offense quarterback, AJ Hairston. Hairston is coming off an impressive junior season where he threw for over 3200 yards with 32 touchdowns to just 6interceptions. In his two years as a starter, he’s become known for his lightning-quick release, accuracy & ability to put up gaudy numbers without turning the ball over.
In the past two seasons, Hairston has thrown for over 5,500 yards with a 70% completion percentage, plus adding 55 touchdowns to just 14 interceptions. These numbers have landed him several offers and a recent upgrade in rankings by 247 Sports & with another productive season in 2023 AJ will continue to climb up the recruiting rankings.
Jabari Brady, Wide Receiver, Class of 2026
One of Hairston’s primary weapons in 2023 was Brady. Brady is a physical, athletic receiver who bursted on the scene in 2022 as a freshman with over 800 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. Just about any defense coordinator has to account for his ability to create separation and take the top off of defenses, but where he truly excels is with 50/50 balls.
Brady has displayed an ability to high-point jump balls and come down with the catch even when double-teamed, making him an elite weapon in the red zone. He also plays cornerback for the Knights, where he excels in
press-man using his length, physicality, and elite ball skills. Brady currently holds several offers from Power five schools and is poised to have another big season for the Knights in 2023.
Samari Reed, Athlete, Class of 2025
Last but not least we had the electric Reed who was Mr. Everything for the Monarch Knights in 2022. He's an explosive returner and a big play receiver in their offense who's coming off a season with over 600 all-purpose yards and 3 touchdowns.
As a returner, he displayed the ability to change the complexion of any game. All Reed needed was a slight crease to turn any punt or kick return into an instant highlight.
He brought that big play speed and elusiveness on offense as well,
where he’s a vertical threat that stretches the field for the Knights. Reed currently holds several power five offers; that number will undoubtedly continue to rise with another productive season in 2023.
