No. 1 CB Recruit, Georgia Commitment Robinson To Take Miami Official Visit

Hurricanes continue to court IMG Academy's Ellis Robinson IV

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Miami is still attracting the nation's top college football recruits

Even those currently committed elsewhere like No. 1-ranked cornerback recruit Ellis Robinson IV. The Georgia football commitment continues to communicate with Hurricane coaches despite the February 1 selection of the national champions.

"Miami has been talking to me like every day," Robinson told All Hurricanes at IMG Academy's pro day Thursday evening. "I met the new D.C. (Lance Guidry) over the phone, he seems like a real cool dude and everything.

"I'm going back over there on my official."

Robinson plans on taking all five allotted official visits, with Georgia slotted in for one visit during the fall, and the others in the spring and/or summer months.

The Canes were in the rising-senior recruit's top five schools before he made the public pick on ESPN, along with Alabama, LSU and Colorado. That angle has been on the table throughout the rise of the Connecticut native's recruitment, though he reports full solidity to Kirby Smart's program.

UM assistant coach DeMarcus Van Dyke has been consistently in with Robinson and continues to hold his attention among position recruiters.

"He's a great dude, a real chill dude," he said. "Actually, my first-ever visit was to Miami and it was great being down there and talking to him. It was so comfortable, like you could talk to him like a normal person."

Robinson, who has four class of 2023 IMG Academy teammates on the current UM roster, confirmed plans to visit Miami officially in the summer months.

The 6-foot, 180-pound prospect is ranked as the nation's No. 1 cornerback recruit via On3 and 247Sports.
