Ohio State Buckeyes Sign Jeremiah Smith
10:05 p.m. update: It looks like the saga is over. The following tweet just sent out via the Ohio State football X page:
Update: There's still no signed letter of intent as of 9:15 p.m. on National Signing Day. Otherwise, the rest of the following article is valid. AllHurricanes will update the situation as it becomes available. For now, Smith is not signed anywhere.
Despite a tremendous 2024 recruiting class, the Miami Hurricanes fell short of landing the top prospect on their board in Jeremiah Smith. He committed to Ohio State a year ago and he's decided to sign his letter of intent with the Buckeyes.
The entire staff for the Miami Hurricanes laid out the red carpet for Smith and his family several times during unofficial visits, and an official visit as well. Cannot fault UM at all; it just didn't work out for the Canes.
Smith played for seven-on-seven powerhouse South Florida Express and with Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna. He's one of those rare wide receivers that seemingly always came down with the clutch catch.
The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound Smith has also utilized tremendous length to his advantage, as the following picture demonstrated (yes, he caught the pass and it went for a touchdown).
Here were the latest recruiting rankings for Smith from the four primary services, in order of national, position, and state:
Rivals
: 1, 1, and 1
247
: 1, 1, and 1
On3
: 2, 1, and 1
ESPN
: 7, 2, and 3
As for his all-around skills, Smith is as smooth a playmaker as one will find. Route running, hands, timing, and effort are exceptional for a young man that's a senior in high school. Here's a full profile of Smith:

Good luck to Smith as a Buckeye. He's been a blast to cover during his time at Chaminade-Madonna and SFE.
