Recruiting Thoughts and Predictions: South Broward, STA, & Chaminade-Madonna

I've seen three high South Florida high school practices to date. It helped me to solidigy thoughts about some players and recruits. It also helped to shed light on prospects I had not seen prior.
It’s point blank and my opinions only. I included some recruiting predictions for a few players as well.
South Broward High School
One of my favorite recruits in all of Florida would be running back Chris “Hellcat” Wheatley-Humphrey. That dude can fly!
Watching him catch a swing pass was awesome. Why? Who the heck will consistently stay in front of him?
He’s proven to be elusive, and his straight-line speed was tremendous. The Miami commitment has just scratched the surface of what he could be.
He’s also a threat from the slot with tremendous hands, and that might be Wheatley-Humphrey’s best long-term position. Do not rule out cornerback either. Wheatley-Humphrey will be a playmaker for the Canes.
There were some young bulls playing for South Broward, too. One of them I’m very intrigued by would be 2025 DE/TE Sean Burke. He has a brother at FIU that’s 6-9 and 300 pounds. Sean was about 6-5 when I saw him the other day. For Burke, lots of upside on either side of the football.

While there will be a few obvious elite players below to discuss, I loved seeing the accuracy from 2025 signal caller Travis Indorf. Not many know about him yet, but I believe they soon will. He threw some money balls that caught my attention; those touch passes that have little room for error. Watch out for him.
The skill talent has been elite for years with STA. That’s not changed. With Chance Robinson and James Madison II at wide receiver, plus running backs Jordan Lyle and Stacy Gage at running back, that’s four elite offensive skill players that can compete at the P5 level.
Lyle blew me away with his attention to detail and his overall physique. He’s put in the time to be a big-time running back. I can’t compliment him enough for the hard work he’s spent to improve his strength either. Really impressive young man. The Buckeyes got a great prospect.
I believe the STA structure will be really good for Gage on and off the gridiron. One of Oklahoma, Miami, UCF or Florida will get a downhill and no-nonsense runner that’s matured and ready to make an immediate impact. Gage can catch the ball, too.
Robinson committed to the Canes back on April 14. He will be a deep threat for Miami that opposing defenses need to respect. He’s an easy going guy off the field, but I love his competitive nature and how he locked in during several big moments that I’ve seen him during the last year. NFL potential for sure.

The other receiver has as much upside as any 6-foot-3 wideout in the country, Madison. Like Robinson, this young man can fly. I like FSU for him, but that’s more of a guess. He’s visiting FSU in June.
That’s just the start as well.
Cornerback Ryan Mack has been as technically sound as any corner I’ve seen in the 2023 or 2024 class. Not the biggest cat, but he can scoot and Mack has always been competitive. I believe he will be a top-notch nickel or outside corner, and perhaps both, at the college level.
There’s a plethora of linebacker and defensive back talent at STA that I didn’t even get to really see from one practice. Head coach Roger Harriott has a machine at STA, and the underclassmen pool was deep so STA’s mojo will not be changing anytime soon.
Chaminade-Madonna
Best player in the country would be wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. Here’s why. It’s not just the raw talent, which could be discussed in numerous ways such as his top-end speed and wingspan. It’s more about how Smith has carried himself and dedicated his efforts to preparing for each event.
Just watching him warm up, every little thing he does screams that he’s determined to go to the NFL. Same when he uses different techniques to release from bump coverage or make a catch over two defenders.
He’s as dedicated a prospect I can remember seeing in a long time. Barring injury, he’s a top 10 NFL Draft pick.
The best multi-position player in the country was at Chaminade-Madonna as well, and that’s Joshisa "JoJo" Trader. He’s capable of being a cornerback, nickel, safety, slot, outside receiver, and could even play a little running back.
Trader has made it clear he wants to play wide receiver moving forward. Considering he has shown the best hands in the country, that will work out just fine.
I gave Trader props the other day for telling me he would be making a late decision when I first interviewed him in January. He was honest and upfront. Not enough of that here in Florida. Well done.
As for the team he signs with, I feel it will be Florida State or Miami. Just my gut. Trader has not told me anything to make me think that way, so keep that in mind. Just my two cents.
As for Chaminade-Madonna as a whole, it’s just ridiculous. They have at least five receivers that will play Power 5 when considering all four grades at the school.
There’s also Cedrick Bailey at quarterback that’s going to North Carolina State, too. He’s much improved and looked fantastic at practice the other day, especially on fade balls.
One of the best running backs in Florida would be Davion Gause. The North Carolina commitment has not been discussed much lately because he committed to the Tar Heels, but he’s slimmed down to 205 and looked fantastic.
Watch out for a plethora of underclassmen to make noise for the Lions this fall, too. Many of them will end up in the P5 like Smith, Trader, Bailey, etc.
One of many underclassmen I’m personally intrigued by would be wide receiver Kamare Williams. I love to see the long arms from a wide receiver, and Williams certainly has that to go along with being about 6-foot-3. Great kid, too.
Overall, Chaminade-Madonna probably has more than 10 Power 5 prospects and I didn’t even get to spend time watching the linemen.
I'll also have some thoughts from the Tampa area and Polk County coming up over the next few days.
