Not only was Eddy Pierre-Louis a sought after prospect from Tampa (Fla.) Catholic, there were other talented prospects to note from yesterday’s visit.
Here are three of the prospects (and there were even more) to note from the May 4 visit.
Xavier Porter, Defensive Line
Porter mentioned Kansas and Penn State as two programs that would likely receive official visits. North Carolina State and several other programs could also end up with official visits for the powerful defensive lineman as well.
Oklahoma, Auburn, Boston College, Marshall, Michigan, Tennessee, UCF and Wake Forest have all offered among others.
He’s a unique prospect because he could play in a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. Do not be surprised to see Porter’s recruitment continue to rise. Porter has become bigger and stronger than from this time last year, and it was easy to notice.
Terrance “TJ” Moore, Wide Receiver
After a breakout junior campaign, Moore’s recruitment has gone into hyperdrive. He has visits lined up with Clemson (June 2) and Florida (June 9). He’s still in the process of figuring out dates for several others.
“I’m going to take my Ohio State visit during the season,” Moore stated. He’s no place close to making a decision, so the visit dates could take a while to sort out.
Southern California, Georgia and Tennessee were three of the other programs Moore mentioned as possible visits, but there could be others that receive official visits as well.
After seeing Moore’s speed and talent at practice, it’s not surprising that teams lined up to recruit him.
Jameer Grimsley, Cornerback/Wide Receiver
The defensive upside for Grimsley has to be considered elite. He carries himself like a defensive player and he admitted that he probably preferred to play cornerback long-term.
Watching him run and cut during practice, despite a hamstring that's been bothering him from track season, confirmed that Grimsley was indeed a tremendous athlete that could play on either side of the ball in college. There's also something else to note about his stature.
Considering Grimsley was just a shade shorter than Moore, that’s intriguing. Moore was a legit 6-foot-3. Grimsley looked to be about 6-foot-2. If he decides on cornerback, look out. Hard to find cornerbacks with that size.
As for official visits, Grimsley was not exactly sure.
“I mean, there’s nothing that’s really set in stone,” Grimsley began. He clarified his thought process, with Penn State as an example.
“It’s very likely” was the response he gave about an official visit with the Nittany Lions. That extended to other schools, too.
“I’ve been talking to some schools about official visits like Michigan, Alabama, North Carolina…they could get official visits. As of right now, though, it’s still a little bit open.”
As for a program a little closer to home, Grimsley offered the following on the Florida Gators, a school he’s been more involved with recently including an unofficial visit.
“They weren’t too high on my list because they waited a minute to kind of mess with me, but, after I visited and met the coaches, I liked the vibe. I liked what they were saying.”
There’s still a long way to go with Grimsley’s recruitment. Look for Florida State to be another program that has a chance to land his signature. He would probably be open to other programs contacting him as well.
As for a decision timeline, Grimsley had a tentative plan.
“I mean, that’s ideal,” he stated about having it done by the end of summer. “Probably after spring, I’ll talk about it. That’s a possibility after taking some officials, making that decision. You know, it could happen. It’s really just how things go from here.”
