Miami Hurricanes Recruiting: Zaquan Patterson to 'The U'
The Miami Hurricanes 2024 recruiting class now has Zaquan Patterson in their fold. That’s huge for Mario Cristobal and the Canes!
With Miami also holding the commitments of safeties Dylan Day (can play safety, nickel or cornerback) and Isaiah Thomas, Patterson is a fantastic final addition at the position.
For the recruiting analysts that continuously see Patterson over and over, it’s hard to think of him as any other than a future NFL player. As for his current recruiting industry rankings, here's where Patterson resides (national, position, and state):
Rivals
: 14, 2, and 4
ESPN
: 76, 3, and 13
247
: 78, 4, and 11
On3
: 294, 30 and 36
Smart, instinctive, hard working and physically gifted, Patterson’s all-around skills can project him at multiple spots in the secondary – even within a single game – to help the Hurricanes win.
Patterson’s decision was just announced via a halftime announcement between Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna and Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances. Two great programs coming together, which is great to see.
Back to Patterson’s skills, here’s what he’s bringing to the University of Miami.
Ball Skills: Excellent timing and an aggressive nature are the starting points, and his hand-eye coordination is tremendous as well. That point means that pass breakups often become interceptions. The following video is a great example:
Hitting Ability: Patterson can be a thumper, when he decides to unleash. Ball skills first, yes, but do not discount Patterson dislodging the football from a crossing receiver or running back going off tackle.
All Hurricanes will do a complete breakdown of Patterson’s traits on Sunday.
