Michigan State lands offensive lineman out of transfer portal

The Spartans add another piece to their offensive line for 2024...

Head coach Jonathan Smith and Michigan State football have been active in the transfer portal today with two additions within the last couple hours.

It started with former North Dakota quarterback Tommy Schuster, a four-year starter for the Fighting Hawks. Most recently, the Spartans also received a commitment from former Oregon State offensive lineman Tanner Miller.

Miller played both center and guard at Oregon State and adds much-needed depth to the Spartans' front. The 6-foot-1, 287-pounder appeared in 40 games with 14 career starts with the Beavers. He reunites with offensive line coach Jim Michalczik who followed Smith to East Lansing. Miller will have one season of eligibility remaining.

Smith has had success bringing several pieces with him to Oregon State to MSU, including six of his assistant coaches and several 2024 high school prospects in the most recent recruiting cycle. Michigan State has also now added three former Beavers to their roster — rising sophomore quarterback Aiden Chiles, rising junior tight end Jack Velling and Miller.
