Caitlin Clark breaks women's major-college scoring record as Iowa routs Gophers
Sixth-ranked Iowa was dominant from start to finish in a 108-60 blowout of the Gophers women's basketball team at a sold-out Williams Arena Wednesday night.
There were long lines outside The Barn ahead of the game with fans flocking to see Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark in person.
Fans may have been disappointed in the result of the game, but they got a vintage performance from Clark, who delivered another dazzling performance, recording a triple-double with 33 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
If that performance in and of itself wasn't impressive enough, Clark broke the all-time major-college women's scoring record in the process, surpassing Kansas legend Lynette Woodard's mark of 3,649 points.
Clark now has 3,650 points for her career.
Four more Hawkeyes finished in double figures as Iowa led from start to finish in a dominant win over the short-handed Gophers, who again without Mara Braun and Sophie Hart. Amaya Battle led the U with 18 points.
Janay Sanders added 17 more for the Gophers, and Grace Grocholski had 12, but Minnesota wasn't able to keep up with the high-flying Hawkeyes.
The Gophers have one more regular-season game remaining before the Big Ten Tournament. Minnesota travels to Penn State on Sunday to take on the Nittany Lions. Tipoff is set for noon.
