Gophers safety Tyler Nubin was named a first-team All-American on Wednesday by the Sporting News, one of five outlets the NCAA uses to select its All-American teams.
Nubin, an All-Big Ten selection, was also named a second-team All-American by the Associated Press, the Walter Camp Foundation and the FWAA this week.
Nubin had 53 tackles and five interceptions in 2023, giving him 13 interceptions for his career — a program record. He also had four passes defended, one sack and one forced fumble.
The Saint Charles, Ill., native is the first Gophers player to be honored by the Sporting News since NFL star Antoine Winfield Jr. was named a first-team All-American in 2019.
