The Mississippi State Bulldogs opened the 2023 National Football League season with 22 former players on various rosters. 

As it winds down, the number has stayed roughly the same, however the names have changed through roster moves, promotions and releases. Topping the impressive list the likes of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, Philadelphia Eagles Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones, and Green Bay Packers linebacker Preston Smith. Additionally: 

• Pro Bowl selections: Cox (six), Slay (five), Chris Jones (four), Elgton Jenkins (two), Prescott (two), Jeffery Simmons (two) and J.T. Gray (one).

• First-round draft picks: Cox, Simmons, Montez Sweat, Johnathan Abram, Charles Cross.

• Super Bowl champions: Jones (two), Cox and Willie Gay Jr. 

It should be noted that  Prescott was named the 2022 Walter Payton Man of the Year.

As for coaches, former Mississippi State quarterback Joe Judge serves as the assistant head coach of the New England Patriots, former safety Stephen Adegoke is the safeties coach for the Houston Texans and former linebacker DeAndre Ward is the assistant strength and conditioning coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

• Former Mississippi State players Chris Stratton (right) and Nathaniel Lowe (right) were both won the 2023 World Series on the Texas Rangers. 

• In mid-December, Hunter Renfroe joined the Kansas City Royals, signing a deal worth $13 million over two years. He's slated to make $5.5 million in 2024 and $7.5 million in 2025. There's reportedly an opt-out clause for Renfroe after the first year, and he also has $500K available in performance bonuses each season. Last season, the 31-year-old outfielder hit .233 with 20 home runs and 60 RBI with the Reds and Angles.
