Coaches and players on defense provided updates Friday after Nebraska football's third practice of fall camp. As he discussed his edge rushers, defensive coordinator Erik Chinander said he likes what he's seeing from senior Caleb Tannor.

"Great effort. Great enthusiasm. Becoming a leader, and it is huge to get him back, obviously. ... It's really fun to watch him turn the corner on pass rush. I really like what he's doing."

Tannor is one of several pieces of the puzzle as the Huskers try to generate more quarterback sacks. Nebraska tied for 98th nationally in that category last season.

"Garrett (Nelson) is back," Chinander noted. "We have an addition of Ochaun (Mathis) and we have the young guys, Blaise (Gunnerson) and Jimari (Butler), that are growing up, so I feel really good about that rotation along with a couple freshmen right now."

Chinander touched on the possibility of using Tannor, Nelson and Mathis at the same time, at least in some situations.

"If you're a good coach, you probably put your best guys on the field all at the same time," Chinander said. "So if they're the three best pass rushers, we've got to get them out there. We've already started that talk a little bit."
