A part of an impressive 2024 NFL Draft class for the Notre Dame program, former Irish offensive tackle Blake Fisher is on site in Indianapolis at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. At the time, Fisher was a slightly controversial early declaration, leaving multiple years of eligibility on the table.

Talent has never been in question, but consistency certainly was. For Fisher, he did his research and spoke with a lot of people with varying opinions. He felt like it was time.

"My process was a lot of consulting,” Fisher explained. "I spoke with my coaches, Coach (Joe) Rudolph, Coach (Marcus) Freeman, my agents and my family. I just wanted to know where they saw me and if I was ready.

"Coach Rudolph gave me the green light and thought I was ready,” Fisher added. "From there, it was about making a plan and keeping things as smooth as possible.”

When speaking with the media in Indianapolis, several media members wanted to know what makes Fisher special. What game was the one that best exemplified himself as a player? According to Fisher, it’s most games.

"I would say Ohio State and USC this year,” he explained. "You can see my run game dominance and the impact I can have. It’s really any game that can show what I can bring to the table.”

For anyone who has seen Fisher’s film, talent has never been a question mark. It’s about tapping into his potential and becoming a much more consistent player. That’s what his draft process has been about so far.

"I’ve been training down in Dallas, Texas with Duke Manyweather over the last eight weeks,” said Fisher. "I’ve been working out a lot. I’m just perfecting my craft.”

Whether you agree or not with Fisher’s decision to declare or not, there has been solid feedback from the NFL so far. He is hoping to continue that momentum in Indianapolis and impress the NFL scouts, decision makers and coaches in attendance. Fisher is fortune to be here, which he credits to Notre Dame.

"It's a blessing to be here,” Fisher explained. "I would not have gotten here without a lot of hard work and dedication. For the most part, I've had a lot of great guys in my room. Notre Dame was a great place to learn and prepare for the next level.”
