Joe Alt Goes Top 10 In Mel Kiper Jr. Mock Draft

Former Notre Dame star Joe Alt went in the Top 10 of the first mock draft from Mel Kiper Jr.

Notre Dame is likely going to have another player picked in the first round of the NFL Draft, and this time it will be offensive tackle Joe Alt. Mel Kiper Jr. of ESPN released his first mock draft for the 2024 NFL Draft, and he has Alt going very high.

Kiper has Alt going No. 7 overall to the Tennessee Titans.

"The Titans are another team coming off a lost season, and they moved on from Mike Vrabel in the aftermath. They hired former Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan as his replacement. Rookie second-round pick Will Levis showed enough promise to get a chance to start at quarterback in 2024, but there are big holes all along the roster, including on a defense that ranked last in the league in interceptions (6).

I keep staring at the Titans' depth chart and wondering whether they should go back to the O-line, though. They took Peter Skoronski at No. 11 a year ago and played him mostly at guard, where he was just OK. Why not solidify the left tackle spot with the top two tackles in this class on the board? Alt was the definition of a stalwart on the left side of Notre Dame's line, where he started 33 games. He gave up just two sacks over the past two seasons. Tennessee ranked 31st in the rate of sacks per dropback (11.1%) in 2023, so putting Levis in a better position to succeed should be a priority." - Mel Kiper Jr.

In this mock draft the former Notre Dame star would be the first offensive lineman taken in this draft. It would also mark the first time since 2002 that the Tennessee Titans have drafted a player from Notre Dame. The last time Notre Dame player to be selected by the Titans was linebacker Rocky Boiman.

If Alt goes this high he would be the highest drafted Notre Dame player since 2018, which was when Quenton Nelson was drafted No. 6 overall by the Indianapolis Colts. He would be the highest drafted Notre Dame offensive tackle since Ronnie Stanley was also taken No. 6 overall back in the 2016 draft.

Alt was a unanimous All-American in 2023 after a brilliant junior season.
