It's Official: Mike Denbrock Named Notre Dame's Offensive Coordinator

Notre Dame has officially announced Mike Denbrock is the new offensive coordinator at Notre Dame

Notre Dame has made it official, with Mike Denbrock officially being named as the program's next offensive coordinator. This is a second reunion between Denbrock and Notre Dame.

"First and foremost, Mike is an elite coach across the board,” said head coach Marcus Freeman. "He is a great leader, recruiter and developer, but what I love the most is his competitive spirit.

"Mike not only has a lot of experience, but he has achieved a high level of success at multiple places. He has the ability to mold his offense to utilize his playmakers, while putting defenses in conflict. I want to thank Jack Swarbrick and our leadership for consistently providing us the resources to ensure we can attract the best coaches and staff to join our program.”

This would be Denbrock's third stint at Notre Dame. He coached the Notre Dame offensive tackles and tight ends from 2002-04. Denbrock returned again in 2010 and coached the Irish tight ends in 2010-11, the wide receivers in 2012-13, and then was promoted to offensive coordinator in 2014. Notre Dame's 2015 offense set a modern era program record with 7.02 yards per play and was one of two offenses in the modern era to average over 250 passing yards and 200 rushing yards in the same season.

Over the past two seasons he was the offensive coordinator at LSU, where he developed the nation's best offense in 2023. The Tigers led the nation in scoring (46.4 PPG), total offense (547.8 YPG), yards per play (8.53), third-down offense (56.7%), most plays of 40 yards or more (29), yards per pass attempt (11.0) and passer rating (196.51).

LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels had a brilliant final season under Denbrock, passing for 3,812 yards, rushing for 1,134 yards and accounting for 50 touchdowns. His season culminated with him winning the Heisman Trophy.
