Notre Dame Quarterback Sam Hartman Puts Together Solid Combine Performance
On Saturday, the skill position groups took stage at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. That included a limited group of quarterbacks with several of the top players opting. Former Notre Dame signal caller Sam Hartman was one of the standouts who was in action.
This is how Hartman performed on the day. It was an overall solid day for the productive passer.
WEIGH-IN RESULTS
The weigh-in results weren’t much of a surprise with Hartman, who already weighed in during the 2024 Reese’s Senior Bowl. Here’s how he measured in, hitting solid size thresholds.
Height: 6-1
Weight: 211
Arm: 31 ⅜”
Hand: 9 ¾”
ATHLETIC TESTING
As an athlete, Hartman was expected to test solid but unspectacularly. Except for the vertical jump, which was less than stellar, Hartman did just that. Here is how he tested on Saturday.
40-Yard Dash: 4.80 seconds
Vertical Jump: 28.5 inches
Broad Jump: 9 feet, 1 inch
3-Cone: 7.19
20-yard Shuttle: 4.34
Hartman's vertical jump was last among all quarterbacks, although only five competed in the event. His 3-cone performance was second best among four performers at quarterback and his shuttle was third among four performers. His broad jump was fourth among five performers in that event. His 40-yard dash was second among four performers, with only Kedon Slovis (BYU, Pitt, USC) running better. Hartman bested Western Kentucky's Austin Reed (4.82) and South Carolina's Spencer Rattler (4.95).
POSITIONAL DRILLS
From a throwing perspective, Hartman was solid throughout the day. He was accurate on short to intermediate, and also had a couple good deep balls as well. You could see a lack of arm strength on some of the deeper out and in breaking routes. There are clear deficiencies but it was mostly a solid day.
