Notre Dame is off to a fast start with its 2025 recruiting class and the Fighting Irish added another with Elmhurst (Ill.) Immaculate Conception linebacker Dominik Hulak announcing his commitment.

The Irish offered Hulak in the spring as part of the Pot of Gold rush. He was one of many defenders the Irish were on, but a summer performance at Notre Dame's camp made him a much bigger priority. A middle linebacker and tight end by trade, Hulak was asked to do some drills with the defensive ends, and he performed quite well.

Hulak had a strong junior campaign, and his production on both sides of the ball continued to impress the Notre Dame coaches. As a junior, Hulak racked up 36 tackles, nine tackles for loss and three sacks to go with five pass break ups. He worked primarily as a middle linebacker, where he is a bit of a throwback thumper. Hulak also caught 13 passes for 212 yards, good for a 16.3 per catch average.

The 6-3, 225-pound defender did get some time playing on the edge as a junior, and that is where Notre Dame views him at the next level. Notre Dame has told him he's a fit for a position they call the "Money" spot, which is a hybrid end/linebacker. I could see him filling a role similar to that of sophomore Junior Tuihalamaka, another high school thumper linebacker that converted to the edge at Notre Dame.

Hulak joins a 2025 defensive line class that already includes fellow edge standout CJ May of Alabama, fellow Illinois defender Joseph Reiff and talented defensive tackle Davion Dixon, who was the first 2025 player to commit to the Irish.

Hulak had offers from Iowa, Wisconsin, Louisville, Missouri, Purdue, Illinois, Kansas and Iowa State.

Notre Dame also has 2025 commitments from elite Mississippi quarterback Deuce Knight, running backs Daniel Anderson and Justin Thurman, and tight end James Flanigan.

Notre Dame hosted Hulak four times over the last year, and he was also a frequent visitor at Iowa and Illinois. His most recent visit to South Bend was to watch Notre Dame beat USC back on October 14.
