On Monday, Notre Dame extended an offer to Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert star athlete Trystan Haynes, who is being recruited at multiple positions on the next level. The Irish staff sees him as a cornerback, and has actually been building a relationship with Haynes for some time now.

Around that area of Oklahoma, Sean Cooper is one of the top prominent coaches that has worked with a lot of next level talent. Cooper is the owner of C4 Sports Performance, which is a training facility that trains some of the top athletes in that area. Haynes is one of the many athletes that Cooper has worked with.

Cooper had high praise for Haynes, who he believes has the upside to play on the highest level.

"His talent level is off the charts,” Cooper told Irish Breakdown. "He has NFL upside as an athlete and the best part about him is his demeanor and he’s never rattled by anything.”

Obviously Cooper has seen him grow as a player over the years. He has also seen Haynes grow as a person, leader and competitor. It appears that he is the full package.

"I’ve seen him grow, probably becoming a little more vocal and really becoming confident on the outside on the island because the thing many don’t know is he was an offensive guy, playing running back and wide receiver most of his life growing up,” Cooper explained. "I’ve seen him through reps in 7-on-7 last spring and just being around the dogs his school team has at Carl Albert grows even more confidence.”

As if his film wasn’t impressive enough, Haynes also comes off as a very level headed young man. Cooper vouches for that character in a big way.

"He’s really quiet, observant and smart,” Cooper stated. "He watches everything that is going on and doesn’t look for or seek to attain the spotlight. Trystan just stays in his zone and recruiting has definitely not changed that one bit.

"He’s still the same kid when I first met him and recruiting has made him even more humble and thankful,” he added. "I haven’t seen him switch up at all and he doesn’t get affected by the glitz and glamour and definitely doesn’t play the Twitter game.”

In a world centered around social media presence and instant gratification, having a player like Haynes that comes from a mature and humble place is very refreshing. It will be interesting to see how things progress between him and Notre Dame moving forward, but he is a very good addition to the board from every perspective.

Haynes has already put together a sensational offer list, being courted by some of the best programs in all of college football. Some of those top offers include the Irish, Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU, Miami, Texas A&M, Nebraska, TCU, Utah, Arkansas, Missouri, Baylor, Stanford, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Houston, Iowa State, Kansa State and Kansas among others.

The 6-2, 160-pound cover man is considered a consensus four-star and top 200 national recruit by every major recruiting platform. Haynes ranks highest by 247Sports, currently sitting as the No. 120 overall player and No. 16 cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class.

The Oklahoma native was a two-way star for the Carl Albert Titans as a junior. In 14 games, Haynes recorded 51 total tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups. He also recorded four tackles for loss and three forced fumbles as well.

As if his defensive contributions weren’t enough, Haynes was also outstanding as a wide receiver in 2023. He led the team with 1,009 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 45 receptions, averaging an impressive 22.4 yards per reception. Haynes did all that while also returning kicks and punts for the team.
