ESPN released its latest rankings for the 2024 class and the Notre Dame 2024 commits saw a number of players rise in the rankings. That rise included three players jumping into the ESPN300 rankings for the first time.
Texas running back Kedren Young was the highest ranked new player in the ESPN300, going from unranked to No. 217 overall in the latest rankings. Another Texan - defensive end Loghan Thomas - also jumped into the rankings, going from a three-star player to a four-star and the No. 231 overall player in the new rankings. North Carolina wide receiver Micah Gilbert was also new to the rankings, jumping in at No. 252 overall.
Young climbed up 11 spots among the nation's running backs, coming in at No. 14. Thomas rose 12 spots at defensive end and is now ranked as the No. 27 edge player. Gilbert rose eight spots at wide receiver and is now the No. 32 pass catcher.
Georgia wide receiver Isiah Canion also saw his ranking take a big jump. He rise 53 spots and is now ranked as the nation's No. 187 overall player, and he climbed seven spots in the athlete rankings, although Notre Dame looks at him as a wide receiver.
Illinois star Cam Williams is the other Irish receiver in the class, and he climbed up two spots to the No. 51 spot in the national rankings. His wide receiver ranking remained the same.
Michigan quarterback CJ Carr remains Notre Dame's highest ranked recruit, checking in as the No. 35 overall player, which is where he was in the last ESPN rankings.
Notre Dame's newest commit - Indiana safety Brauntae Johnson - fell just four spots and ranked No. 278 in the latest installment, but he did climb three spots in the Athlete ranking category. Offensive lineman Peter Jones remained the same in the interior offensive line rankings, but his overall ranking fell 10 spots to No. 254. Of course, part of the reason he fell is that three Irish commits rose ahead of him (Young, Gilbert, Thomas).
Offensive lineman Styles Prescod went from being a three-star to a four-star by ESPN, although he remains outside of the ESPN300.
The only Notre Dame commit to drop out of the rankings was North Carolina star Jack Larsen, who went from No. 139 to unranked, but he remains a four-star recruit according to ESPN. Running back Aneyas Williams is Notre Dame's other four-star commit in the 2024 class according to ESPN.
Four uncommitted players that Notre Dame is still recruiting also made the ESPN300 rankings. Illinois defensive tackle Justin Scott ranked No. 34 overall, Massachusetts offensive tackle Guerby Lambert ranked No. 59 in the rankings, California linebacker Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa ranked No. 157 overall and Alabama linebacker Bradley Shaw ranked No. 183.
