Texas Pass Catcher Daylan McCutcheon Previews Return Trip To Notre Dame

Dynamic 2025 wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon set for third visit to Notre Dame

For the third time, and first time since the Ohio State game, 2025 Lucas (Texas) Lovejoy star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon is heading back to Notre Dame this weekend. The Texas native has been on the Irish radar for some time now, but with a couple coaching changes offensively, things are in a wait and see process right now.

This weekend will bring some clarity for interest on both sides. Clearly there is bit of interest from McCutcheon, who is just excited to get back to South Bend.

“I’m pretty excited to be able to meet the new wide receiver coach and offensive coordinator,” McCutcheon told Irish Breakdown. “South Bend is a great place so it’s going to be great getting back up there.

“It has been really good with Notre Dame,” he continued. “I mainly have been communicating with Coach (Marcus) Freeman but I look forward to building a new relationship with the staff.”

Meeting and developing a relationship with both Mike Brown and Mike Denbrock is going to be huge for the star pass catcher. He already has a high opinion of the Irish, and clear criteria for what he is looking for. The relationships are what could push it over the top.

“They are a great football program and on top of that they are able to provide a great education,” he explained. “Notre Dame provides pretty much everything you need.

“Ultimately when looking into schools, I am looking for a place that can be basically my second home,” McCutcheon added.

The 6-0, 175-pound pass catcher is coming off of a dynamic junior campaign, which was a big reason why Lovejoy ended with a 12-2 overall record. In games, McCutcheon hauled in 92 receptions for 1,423 yards and 19 touchdowns. Now sitting as one of the more heralded pass catchers in the class, Notre Dame is hoping to continue their momentum with the Texas star.

McCutcheon is already considered one of the top wide receivers in the 2025 recruiting class. According to both On3 and Rivals, he is a top 100 overall player nationally, sitting at No. 94 and No. 70 respectively. Every major recruiting platform has him pegged as a four-star recruit and a consensus top 200 overall player.

It should be no surprise that McCutcheon is being courted by some of the top programs in all of college football. Some of his notable offers include the Irish, Ohio State, Florida State, Texas A&M, Oregon, Penn State, Oklahoma, USC, Miami, Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Arkansas, Missouri, Utah, Baylor, West Virginia, Purdue, Cal, Stanford and Kansas among others.
