QB Deuce Knight Set For Important Notre Dame Junior Day Return
For the sixth time overall, Lucedale (Miss.) George County quarterback Deuce Knight will be heading back to Notre Dame on January 20th for the upcoming Junior Day. The 6-5, 185-pound dual threat passer has been committed to the program since September 18th.
Since Knight made his pledge, he has not only become the face of the 2025 class for the Irish, he has also become a very important recruiter. The Mississippi native has made it no secret how involved he is in selling the Notre Dame program. He is working hard to try and help the staff to sign the top class in school history, which he has been very open about.
With so many top uncommitted targets setting visits currently, having Knight on campus is huge to help continue to build a stellar 2025 class. It also gives Knight the chance to be around new offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock and the entire staff again.
After beginning his junior year at Nashville’s Lipscomb Academy, Knight returned to George County after a couple games. Once he was back on the field, he put together a tremendous season. In seven games played for the Rebels, Knight threw for 1,420 yards and 15 touchdowns. He also ran for another 340 yards and eight touchdowns. On top of those 23 total touchdowns, the talented passer also only threw three interceptions en route to a state playoff berth.
When Knight signs, he would be just the second player from the state of Mississippi to sign with Notre Dame in the last 21 years. That’s a tremendous accomplishment, especially landing such a high upside signal caller from the Southeast. Knight is considered a near elite recruit by various major recruiting platforms, including On3 who has him currently slated as the No. 28 overall player and No. 4 quarterback in the 2025 recruiting class.
Notre Dame was able to beat out a long list of top schools for Knight. Some of those notable offers included the Irish, Georgia, Alabama, Miami, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Washington, Auburn, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, TCU, Mississippi State, Louisville, Vanderbilt and Indiana among others.
