For the first time since committing to Notre Dame on December 1st, 2025 Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange star safety Ivan Taylor will be heading back to South Bend on January 20th for Junior Day. Taylor heads into this visit with a lot of excitement getting back to campus.

He also gave some insight into making his decision to opt for the Irish over a long list of top suitors. The relationships have been continuing to grow since Taylor made his commitment public.

"Thinking back on my commitment and my decision, I am really happy with the decision I made,” Taylor told Irish Breakdown. "I do feel like it was the right decision for me. Notre Dame is a special place and I’m honored to be a part of it.

"Everything has been going good with the commits and the coaches,” he continued. "The relationship has been great between both. I’m getting to know everyone more each day and am excited to get back to campus to see them.”

This weekend would be about Taylor enjoying his time on campus with the coaches and other recruits that made the trip. Keeping everything simple, and bonding over Notre Dame football is the top priority.

"What I am most excited about is just to be around the Coaches again,” Taylor explained. "I want to get to know the commits better as well. It’s going to be low key and a great chance to just enjoy everything and relax.”

The other big part of these junior days are bringing uncommitted recruits on campus and getting them around the commits. While Taylor is a very reserved personality, he does take his role as a recruiter very seriously.

"I try to play my role by recruiting other players,” Taylor stated. "I’m not the best at it but I definitely try to talk to them. I just want them to know if they need advice or an opinion, I’m there.”

Taylor is already a consensus four-star by every major recruiting platform. He is ranked as a top 40 national recruit by both 247Sports (No. 35) and ESPN (No. 30). Both of those outlets rank Taylor as a top five safety in the class.

The 6-0, 170-pound safety was being courted by some of the top prospects in all of college football. Notre Dame won against a long list of elite teams, including offers from Alabama, Michigan, USC, Penn State, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Pittsburgh among several others.

In only nine games as a sophomore, Taylor made his full impact on the back end. He finished the season with 65 total tackles, five tackles for loss, half a sack, three interceptions and eight pass breakups.

Taylor has forced a ton of turnovers as a junior. In nine games, the talented defender has intercepted three passes and three forced fumbles. Taylor has also broken up another pass as well, on top of recording 50 total tackles and six tackles for loss. Disruption is the name of his game.
