Notre Dame Is A Special Place For Dynamic Receiver Talyn Taylor
Wide receiver recruiting in the 2025 class has been an interesting affair for Notre Dame so far. With the transition from Chansi Stuckey to Mike Brown, there has been a bit of a shakeup with several new names getting added to the board.
One familiar name on the board is Geneva (Ill.) Community wide receiver Talyn Taylor, who has been a player the Irish staff has been prioritizing for some time now. Over the weekend, Taylor returned for Junior Day.
It was his fourth overall trip to campus, and once again didn’t disappoint.
"The visit went great,” Taylor told Irish Breakdown. "It was nice to get to hang out with some of the guys. Notre Dame always impresses me with the way they treat everyone in the room and how they treat me as well. I enjoyed getting time with Coach (Marcus) Freeman as well.”
Even through the transition, Notre Dame made sure that Taylor knew how much of a priority he was. This visit allowed for those relationships with the staff to continue, which are getting even stronger.
"I would say the recruiting process has developed very well with the staff,” said Taylor. "Coach Freeman has stayed in constant contact with me and Coach Brown has been recruiting me since my freshman year in high school, so we have a great relationship as well.”
Throughout his recruitment, Taylor has been consistent on timeline to potentially making a decision. There may be some more clarity soon, with a chance for Notre Dame to continue gaining momentum and close in the end.
"I plan to narrow my list down soon and take official visits to those schools and make a decision in June prior to my senior year,” he said. "Notre Dame is a special place and they have definitely made me feel wanted.”
Taylor is considered a consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform. Rivals is especially high on the Illinois native, currently pegging him as the No. 26 overall player and No. 6 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class. On3 also currently has Taylor as a Top 100 overall player, sitting at No. 54 on their list.
The star pass catcher is getting courted by some of the top programs in all of college football. Some of the top schools that have offered him so far include the Irish, Ohio State, Michigan, Georgia, Alabama, USC, Penn State, Miami, Tennessee, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Louisville, Utah, UCLA, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas State, Purdue, Syracuse and Kansas among others.
As a junior, Taylor made his presence felt in a lot of areas. The 6-1, 175-pound pass catcher hauled in 32 receptions for 512 yards and six touchdowns in eight games. Taylor also scored a touchdown on the ground, while throwing for four more as a quarterback. He also hauled in an interception on defense while being the main punt returner for the Vikings.
