Notre Dame Is Making A Strong Impression On Elite California Athlete Brandon Arrington
Notre Dame had a busy Sunday, holding their annual Pot of Gold offer event. Over 100 of the top players in the 2026 recruiting class were offered, including La Mesa (Calif.) Mount Miguel athlete Brandon Arrington, who the Irish are pursuing as a wide receiver.
Growing up, Arrington had heard a lot about the Notre Dame program. With his prior knowledge, it made the offer that much sweeter. The legacy that has been built in South Bend speaks for itself.
"I was excited about the offer because I used to watch a lot of Football Life and watch the history of football players going to the NFL from Notre Dame like Joe Montana and Jerome Bettis,” Arrington told Irish Breakdown. "Obviously there is a lot of history around the program."
Notre Dame has the history part down, but making an impression with the current program is a must. So far, so good for the Irish coaching staff.
"The Notre Dame coaching staff has been great,” Arrington state. "They show the most love out of all the schools. They always keep in touch.”
The recruiting process has just begun for Arrington, who is enjoying the process so far. Look for him to hit the road to some schools this offseason, although it isn’t easy as a multi sport star.
"Recruiting has been going well,” Arrington explained. “I have been keeping in touch and connected with a lot of schools. I do plan on going on visits this spring but I’ll have to see because of my track schedule. That makes traveling a little tough.”
Obviously Notre Dame has made a great early impression on the California standout. Getting him to campus is a major priority, which could really grab momentum moving deeper into this recruitment.
Arrington is really gaining tremendous traction on the recruiting trail recently, putting together a very impressive offer list. Some of the top schools who have extended offers so far include the Irish, Alabama, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Utah, Arizona State, Arizona, Arkansas, Oregon State, Washington State, Cal and BYU among others.
The 6-1, 180-pound pass catcher is rated as a four-star recruit by On3, the only major recruiting platform that has ranked him so far. On that ranking, Arrington currently sits as the No. 5 overall player and No. 1 athlete in the 2026 recruiting class.
As a sophomore, Arrington played for Helix High School. In ten games, he hauled in 14 receptions for 310 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 22.1 yards per reception. On defense, Arrington also collected 25 total tackles.
