Ivan Taylor Continues To Feel At Home As A Notre Dame Commit
Over the weekend, a long list of 2025 recruits made the trip to South Bend for Junior Day. That includes 11 of the Notre Dame class of 2025 commits. 2025 Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange star safety Ivan Taylor made his first trip back to campus since committing to the team in early December.
It was yet another successful trip for Taylor, who was nothing but complimentary about the event and everyone involved. Even as a commit, getting back to Notre Dame is special.
"It was great just being around some of the 2025 commits and getting to know them better,” Taylor told Irish Breakdown. "It's always good to see the coaches as well. Just being in South Bend is special.
"My favorite part was just being around the coaches and talking ball with Coach (Chris) O’Leary,” he continued. "They’re my family. Every time we are around each other, the relationship gets even better.”
Now that Taylor is committed to the Irish, he has high expectations to help Notre Dame build an elite class in 2025. There was one particular Florida standout who he spent some needed bonding time with.
"Dallas (Golden) was probably the one non commit I chilled with the most,” Taylor said. "He is a cool guy and a player we really want in the class. We have a chance to build something special.”
As an uncommitted recruit, Taylor getting to South Bend was always special. It was one of the big reasons why the Irish program finished on top, his love for the campus. That feeling came back over the weekend. He still felt all those same feelings as a commit.
"It didn't feel any different at all,” Taylor explained. "It felt great just like how it has always been. Notre Dame is my second home now.”
Taylor is already a consensus four-star by every major recruiting platform. He is ranked as a top 40 national recruit by both 247Sports (No. 35) and ESPN (No. 30). Both of those outlets rank Taylor as a top five safety in the class.
The 6-0, 170-pound safety was being courted by some of the top prospects in all of college football. Notre Dame won against a long list of elite teams, including offers from Alabama, Michigan, USC, Penn State, Florida, Tennessee, Florida State, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Pittsburgh among several others.
In only nine games as a sophomore, Taylor made his full impact on the back end. He finished the season with 65 total tackles, five tackles for loss, half a sack, three interceptions and eight pass breakups.
Taylor has forced a ton of turnovers as a junior. In nine games, the talented defender has intercepted three passes and three forced fumbles. Taylor has also broken up another pass as well, on top of recording 50 total tackles and six tackles for loss. Disruption is the name of his game.
