New Jersey Corner Jordan Thomas At "Loss For Words" From Notre Dame Offer
The 2026 recruiting class was on full display on Sunday, over 100 of the premier players being offered by Notre Dame as a part of their annual Pot of Gold event. A part of a deep and talented cornerback group, Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic standout Jordan Thomas was able to announce the great news.
With how the Irish staff has been developing the cornerback position recently, it’s hard for potential recruits to not get excited at the possibility of working with Mike Mickens. Beyond that, Thomas understands what Notre Dame brings to the table in a larger scale.
“My early impressions of Notre Dame is that they have a great program, and rich tradition,” Thomas told Irish Breakdown. “When I received the offer, I was lost for words and very excited.
“The coaches were very genuine in regards to what they had to say about me,” added Thomas. “They think very highly of me and believe in my ability. Notre Dame has a history of developing and producing great talent.”
When you take a look at Thomas’ offer list, it’s apparent that Notre Dame is in for a fight moving forward. Luckily they have made a very good early impression, most recently on Sunday.
“Recruiting has been great,” he explained. “I am blessed and honored to be on this journey. I’m currently in the process of scheduling a few visits for the spring.
“I think the Pot of Gold Day is very unique,” Thomas continued. “It really brings a lot of excitement to Notre Dame’s program. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to be a part of this special day.”
Thomas is considered to be a four-star recruit and top 100 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class by both 247Sports and Rivals. The latter has him rated the highest right now, checking in as the No. 77 overall player in the class. 247Sports has him pegged as the No. 95 overall player and No. 14 athlete.
The offer list for Thomas is very impressive. Some of the notable programs who have offered the New Jersey native so far include the Fighting Irish, Michigan, Miami, Florida, Penn State, Tennessee, South Carolina, West Virginia, Michigan State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Duke, Pittsburgh and Illinois among others.
As a sophomore, Thomas put together a tremendous year for Bergen Catholic. The 6-0, 170-pound defensive back collected 51 total tackles, four interceptions and five pass breakups. Thomas also collected 2.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. He also had one reception for 65 yards on offense.
