Notre Dame fans will be very familiar with 2025 Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy wide receiver Jerome Bettis Jr. for a couple of reasons, but the most important now is he is a key wide receiver target in the class for the Irish.

The 6-3, 195-pound athlete possesses an interesting athleticism and size profile. According to Woodward Academy co-defensive coordinator Ryan Davis, he could see him holding a lot of different positions and roles on the next level potentially.

"He has a big frame, which allows him to have a lot of upside as an athlete,” Davis told Irish Breakdown. "He isn’t a tweener, but a big athlete who could project to a few different spots. He can play X receiver, can work vertically. You could also pack 20 to 30 pounds on him and make him an athletic Y and move him around. He had never played free safety before but did this year and played well.

"Overall he brings a lot of options to the table,” Davis continued. "It’s going to be interesting to see how he develops as an athlete. He has broad shoulders, big thighs, big hands, which could help him play a few different positions. Jerome is also a smart kid, very intelligent. He really brings a lot of upside to the table.”

If Bettis lands with Notre Dame, they will have that fun opportunity to find a home for Bettis. They see him as a wide receiver but it will be interesting to see how his body continues to develop.

While they find the right fit on the field, Bettis has the personality to excel off of it. Davis was high on Bettis as an athlete, but may have been even higher on him as a person.

"Unfortunately for us, this past season was the first season we have had Jerome,” Davis explained. "He came to be with us midway through his sophomore season. The minute he got here, he was like a beacon of light. Jerome blended right in and didn't skip a beat. He is a super humble and quiet kid. With all the attention, he’s actually a little shy.

"Jerome is just a great kid,” he continued. "He excels in the classroom, does everything right. He will have an opportunity to potentially be a captain for us next season.”

Over the last several months, Bettis has seen his offer list expand. He now holds official offers from schools such as the Irish, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas, NC State, Missouri, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Purdue, Cal, Boston College, Duke and UCF among others.

Bettis showed improvements on the field as a junior. In 14 games, Bettis hauled in 30 receptions for 369 yards and four touchdowns for a very talented Woodward squad. On defense, he also made 34 total tackles, two tackles for loss and two interceptions.
