Linebacker Christian Jones Sets Return Trip To Notre Dame
Notre Dame has struck gold in the Omaha (Neb.) Westside program recently. Of course you can look at the 2024 class with linebacker signee Teddy Rezac and his brother Anthony, who is a preferred walk-on quarterback. Although it’s a different school, the Irish also dipped into Omaha to grab All-American safety Xavier Watts in the 2020 recruiting class.
The program is hoping to make an impact on the area again with 2025 linebacker Christian Jones, who is a former teammate of the Rezac brothers. Jones, who is one of the more talented defenders in the 2025 class, has told Irish Breakdown that he has set his return trip to Notre Dame on April 20th for the Blue-Gold Game.
Jones made his first trip to campus last season during the team’s battle against Ohio State on September 23rd. He is being pursued by a long list of impressive programs, including the Irish, Oklahoma, Penn State, USC, Washington, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa, Boston College, Michigan State, Kansas State, Minnesota, Kansas and Iowa State among others.
Getting the talented linebacker back to campus for a return visit is massive for the Irish. Jones is also working on setting an official visit to Notre Dame as well, which would be a great sign of the team’s chances in the end.
For people that don’t follow high school football, Westside just put together one of the most dominant seasons in recent memory. The team finished with a 13-0 record, including a 49-0 state championship victory over Bellevue West. On the season, the Warriors outscored their opponents 643 to 46.
During that season, the 6-3, 215-pound athlete finished with 69 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, two forced fumble and an interception. Jones also made a big impact on offense, hauling in 20 receptions for 548 yards and nine touchdowns.
Athletically, there aren’t many more impressive athletes in the 2025 recruiting class than Jones. He is also a standout track and field athlete, which really showcases his unique athletic profile. Jones is one of the top shot putters in the state of Nebraska, posting a personal best of 53’7”. That obviously demonstrates core strength and explosiveness but Jones also possesses great straight line speed, posting a time of 10.89 seconds in the 100 meter dash as a sophomore.
Jones is considered a top 100 overall recruit in the 2025 class by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. The latter has him rated the highest, currently sitting as the No. 50 overall player, No. 5 linebacker and No. 1 player from Nebraska in the class.
