Notre Dame Trending Quickly With Florida RB Javian Mallory
Every year Notre Dame takes the Pot of Gold to greater heights. On Sunday, that trajectory continued, offering over 100 of the top players in the 2026 recruiting class. That included a series of very impressive running back offers, including Boca Raton (Fla.) West star Javian Mallory.
Already considered one of the top overall running backs in the 2026 class, Mallory is being pursued by some outstanding programs early on. Despite that level of interest, the Irish have already made a big impact on the talented runner.
"I like Notre Dame a lot right now,” Mallory told Irish Breakdown. "Coach (Deland) McCullough and his resume blows me away and I feel like he is one of the best in the country at his job. I was really excited to receive this offer today. It was something I had been looking forward to since the first day me and Coach McCullough got on the phone.”
Leading up to St. Patrick’s Day, the Notre Dame staff had already been putting in a lot of work with Mallory. The last several weeks have been about building that relationship, while today was about celebrating the caliber of player, student and young man he is.
"I feel like my relationship with the Notre Dame coaching staff gets stronger by the week,” explained Mallory. "Every week I’m on the phone with Coach (Marcus) Freeman and Coach McCullough building a great relationship.
"The Pot of Gold event is unique,” he continued. "Notre Dame has a way of offering kids like no other school. Being a part of that this year was special and I am forever blessed and grateful for this opportunity.”
Notre Dame has always laid a solid foundation with the Florida star, and that relationship promises to increase quickly. There will be high competition, which is to be expected. He is ready to let the process play out and find home.
"The recruiting process has been mainly fun, getting to know all these different coaches and learn about what these programs can bring to the table not just athletically, but academically as well,” said Mallory. "The experiences that have come with the process are amazing as well.
"As of right now, I have been on one visit to Miami and have two visits set up, one to UCF on March 30th and the other one to Syracuse in April,” Mallory added. "I do plan on visiting more schools but those are the only ones I have locked in right now.”
Obviously getting Mallory up to South Bend is a main priority. The foundation has been laid. Now it’s time to build on it with one of the premier all-purpose backs in the country.
Some premier programs in all of college football have already taken early notice of Mallory. Despite only being a sophomore, he already holds an extremely impressive offer list. Some of the top teams to offer so far include the Fighting Irish, Georgia, Ohio State, Florida, Miami, USC, Oregon, Florida State, Penn State, Nebraska, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Kentucky, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Louisville, Syracuse, Pittsburgh and Indiana among others.
So far Rivals is the only major recruiting platform to rank Mallory. They currently peg him as a four-star recruit, as well as the No. 88 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.
As a sophomore, Mallory turned in an incredible season for West Boca Raton. In 11 games played, the 5-11, 195-pound runner exploded for 1,415 yards and 18 touchdowns. Mallory did so on just 131 carries, averaging an absurd 10.8 yards per carry and averaged 128.6 yards per game. He also hauled in another 22 receptions for 438 yards and six touchdowns through the air, making his impact felt as a pass receiver as well.
