Running Back Daniel Anderson Commits To Notre Dame
Notre Dame has added to its 2025 recruiting class by landing a commitment from Bryant (Ark.) High School running back Daniel Anderson. The Irish landed the 5-11, 195-pound back over several SEC programs.
Notre Dame has been high on Anderson's list for some time, and he made a pair of summer visits to South Bend to check out the Fighting Irish program. His first visit was for a Notre Dame summer camp, and Anderson was one of the standout performers. He went into the camp as a bit of an unknown prospect on Notre Dame's board, but after his outstanding performance in front of the Irish coaches he quickly became a top target.
The Irish staff zeroed in on Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit speedster Justin Thurman early in the process, and Thurman committed to Notre Dame in August. At that time the Notre Dame staff started focusing on who they would add to the class with Thurman, and Anderson quickly rose to the top group of players on the running back board. After a strong start to his junior season the Irish staff started to make a more serious push, and now Anderson is in the class.
Notre Dame made a very strong impression on Anderson during his two summer visits.
"Ever since the first camp I attended, I had already thought very highly of Notre Dame,” Anderson told Irish Breakdown back after his second summer visit. "After today it really solidified that impression I have of them."
That impression never wavered, and now Anderson is in the Notre Dame 2025 class.
Anderson is ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 171 overall player in the country according to Rivals, who also ranks him as the No. 15 running back in the country and the No. 2 player in the state of Arkansas. As a sophomore, Anderson rushed for 856 yards and 11 touchdowns on just 74 carries. He also caught nine passes for 246 more yards and three more touchdowns.
Notre Dame has recruited the running back position extremely well since Deland McCullough arrived prior to the 2022 season. After landing big time Missouri back Jeremiyah Love in the 2023 class, McCullough landed two talented backs in the 2024 class as well, getting commitments from Texas star Kedren Young and dual-threat Missouri back Aneyas Williams. Young and Love both earned Top 100 recruit grades on the Irish Breakdown board.
Anderson and Thurman add to the recent recruiting success for McCullough and the Irish staff.
Anderson had offers from the Fighting Irish, Tennessee, Colorado and Mississippi State.
The Bryant runner joins a Notre Dame class that also has elite Mississippi quarterback Deuce Knight and Florida defensive tackle Davion Dixon.
