Notre Dame has landed a long expected commitment today, with Atlanta (Ga.) Woodward Academy wide receiver Jerome Bettis Jr. pledging to the Fighting Irish. Bettis is the son of former Notre Dame star and NFL Hall of Fame running back Jerome Bettis.

The Woodward athlete caught 30 passes for 369 yards (12.3 YPC) and four touchdowns as a junior. He also spent time playing safety for the Eagles, and he performed well, racking up 34 tackles, two interceptions and two tackles for loss.

Bettis is a good sized receiver that is listed at 6-3 and 185 pounds. He is a long armed wideout that shows impressive ball skills. While he lacks the speed and athleticism to create great separation, his strength and hands allow him to be effective at the catch point. You can see this on film and you can also see this during offseason events. In fact, his game continues to improve this offseason, as Bettis has shown a bit more burst during the offseason during 7-on-7 events.

Notre Dame now has three wide receivers committed in the 2025 class, with Bettis joining New Jersey standout Elijah Burress and Ohio athlete Shaun Terry. Notre Dame has been heavily involved with Bettis for some time. While he doesn't possess an offer list like other top wideouts, his size, and his top notch attitude and work ethic have resulted in him earning interest from programs across the country.

Bettis is a consensus three-star recruit, although 247Sports gives him the highest grade within that group. Despite not being ranked very high, Bettis has earned a quality offer list. On top of the Fighting Irish, Bettis earned an offer from Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Missouri, NC State, Arkansas, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Duke, UCF, Boston College, California and Purdue.

Bettis joins a 2025 recruiting class that also includes elite quarterback Deuce Knight, running backs Daniel Anderson and Justin Thurman, tight end James Flanigan, offensive tackle Owen Strebig, offensive tackle Will Black, offensive tackle Matty Augustine, defensive tackle Davion Dixon, defensive end Christopher Burgess Jr., defensive end Joseph Reiff, hybrid defender Dominik Hulak, linebacker Josiah Kia, cornerback Cree Thomas, and safeties Ivan Taylor and Ethan Long

Bettis is the fourth player in the class whose father played in the NFL, joining Flanigan, Burress and Taylor.
