Sleepers Media on Ohio State Visit: 'I'm In On Chris Holtmann'

Sleepers Media's Greg Waddell and Carter Elliott chronicled their trip to Value City Arena for the Ohio State Buckeyes' game against the Michigan State Spartans.

Sleepers Media partnered with The Field of 68 to form a "College Hoops To Go" vlog series, and the latest episode featured a journey to Columbus.

Sleepers Media's Greg Waddell and Carter Elliott travel around to various campuses across the country, and Tuesday's video brought the duo to the Value City Arena on Super Bowl Sunday for the Ohio State Buckeyes' game against Elliott's favorite team, the Michigan State Spartans.

While still on the road to Ohio's state capitol, the two dished out their initial thoughts prior to game day.

“I brought the stethoscope for this trip," Elliott, an Albion College basketball alumnus, said. "Because I don’t know if this Ohio State team has a pulse.”

Elliott said forward Brice Sensabaugh was the "best freshman in the Big Ten and "a lottery pick," while Waddell praised Ohio State's athletics facilities, calling them "the best we had seen across the Big Ten.”

Other than a passing compliment to the Schottenstein Center's event staff, that was the only praise levied on Buckeyes basketball.

During the 62-41 onslaught, there was no shortage of criticism of Ohio State's attendance turnout.

“I wish I had a pin drop right now because if I dropped it right this moment, I would be able to hear it," Elliott said. "There’s no one in here."

Waddell said the Schottenstein Center felt like the duo was at Penn State.

"They got to tarp off the top deck or something," Waddell said. "That’s just poor logistics.”

Elliott held up his novelty stethoscope and said "yeah, there's nothing. They dead." During Stadium O-H-I-O, he chanted "D-E-A-D."

When guard Steven Izzo checked in with 1:20 to go in the second half, Elliott said that if he scored, Ohio State should be "banished from the NCAA."

The two did a postgame analysis after, summarizing what Elliott called a "lifeless game" from the Buckeyes.

Waddell questioned why Ohio State has been favored against anybody, which prompted Elliott to jump in and add that most metrics he uses has the Buckeyes as a top-50 team.

"No, not at all. This is an awful basketball team," Elliott said. "Questions need to be asked, questions are going to be asked."

Then their questions turned to where should the blame for Ohio State's struggles be laid?

"Do you just blame [head coach Chris] Holtmann? I don’t think I blame Holtmann. I kind of blame Holtmann," Waddell said. "I think you can point the fingers at your ‘lottery pick’ who does nothing except shoot tough jumpers."

Before leaving the arena, Waddell walked over to the Ohio State bench, touched one of the stools and quickly snatched it away, signifying that Holtmann was on the hot seat.

As they were leaving the stadium before heading back to their hotel, Elliott affirmed his stance on the program.

"I'm I'm in on Chris Holtmann. I'm in on Ohio State," Elliott said.
