Former Ohio State Buckeyes guard Tanner Holden is set for a homecoming next season.

Holden announced on Instagram Tuesday that he will be transferring back to Fairborn, OH. to join back up with the Wright State Raiders where he played three seasons prior to Ohio State. In his one season with the Buckeyes, Holden was never able to establish regular playing time despite appearing in 27 games in 2022, as he averaged 3.6 points and 2.4 rebounds in 13.5 minutes.

Holden will be returning to where he made a household name for himself as a volume scorer.

In three seasons at Wright State, the Wheelersburg, OH. native averaged 16.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals in 92 games. He was named to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team in 2019-20 before earning back-to-back first-team all-conference honors.

Holden put the world on notice with an otherworldly First Four showing in the 2022 NCAA Tournament against Bryant. In that game, he shot 71 percent to help a 37-point cause, while grabbing 11 rebounds.

There were high expectations for Holden's arrival to Columbus and it looked as though he would be a contributing factor after scoring a team-high 25 points in the Buckeyes' exhibition against Chaminade on Nov. 1, 2022, but those dreams did not turn into reality.

Of his 27 games played last season, Holden only logged north of 20 minutes in three games. In his final eight games of the season, the 6-6 guard averaged 6.5 minutes per contest.

Holden shot 47.8 percent from the floor and 50 percent from 3-point range on 14 attempts on the season, knocking down a buzzer-beating game-winner to defeat Rutgers 67-66 on Dec. 8, 2022.

He entered the transfer portal on April 26.
