Latest NFL Mock Draft Has Patriots Picking Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr.
Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will end up with the New England Patriots, according to the latest mock draft from The Athletic.
The Buckeyes pass-catcher was initially projected by ESPN analyst Mel Kiper to be chosen No. 4 overall by the Arizona Cardinals but now seems to be going a pick earlier.
The Athletic's Dane Bugler cites a few different elements to the Patriots as motivation for their choosing Harrison. One of the largest reasons is the departure of long-time head coach Bill Belichick.
"With Bill Belichick no longer with the organization, there is a level of unknown here, especially considering New England needs help in so many areas," Brugler said. "Despite questions about who will throw him the ball, though, drafting a legitimate No. 1 target is the wise move."
The only players thought to go off the board ahead of Harrison are quarterbacks. It is widely believed USC Trojans' signal-caller Caleb Williams will kick things off going to the Chicago Bears, with North Carolina Tar Heels quarterback Drake Maye following at second to the Washington Commanders.
Kiper also had LSU Tigers quarterback and 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels hearing his name called before Harrison's, which is where the two mock drafts disagree.
Being chosen by the Patriots would put Harrison on the same offense as fellow Buckeye Ezekiel Elliott.
While the former Ohio State running back entered the pros long before Harrison began his career with the Scarlet and Gray, the two are considered by many to be some of the best offensive products to come out of Columbus.
