Mel Kiper Has Ohio State WR Marvin Harrison Jr. As A Top 5 Pick
ESPN analyst Mel Kiper has Ohio State Buckeyes receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. down as a top-five pick in his first 2024 NFL Mock Draft.
The long-time draft expert has the Buckeyes pass-catcher being taken off the board by the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 4 selection.
Harrison has made history numerous times while at Ohio State. In this season alone, Harrison became the first Buckeyes receiver to record back-to-back years with 1,000 receiving yards or more, and finished within the top four in the Heisman Trophy race.
On3's Nick Kosko seems to agree with Kiper's projection for Harrison.
"The Cardinals can get an instant impact weapon with Harrison Jr. and it;ll immediately help Kyler Murray," Kosko said. "Harrison Jr. was the most dominant wide receiver during his time with the Buckeyes. He's as pro-ready as any other prospect in this draft class."
Harrison would be the first receiver off the board if Kiper's prediction comes true. Quarterbacks Caleb Williams (USC), Jayden Daniels (LSU) and Draye Maye (North Carolina) are all slated to hear their names called before Harrison's, according to Kiper.
One of Harrison's many accolades from this season was winning the Fred Biletnikoff Award, which is given to the most outstanding receiver in college football for a given year. Showing how dominate a hold Harrison had at the position this season, Kiper does not have Biletnikoff runner-up Rome Odunze (Washington) being chosen until the No. 9 selection.
The NFL Draft is historically unpredictable, meaning it is very possible Harrison could go earlier or later than Kiper says. Additionally, there is still quite a bit of time for Kiper to move Harrison up or down his board before the annual event, which is slated for April 25.
