Ohio State Star Marvin Harrison Jr. Declares For 2024 NFL Draft
After three seasons in Columbus and 38 games played for the Ohio State Buckeyes Marvin Harrison Jr. will now officially move on to the next chapter of his career, declaring for the NFL Draft on Thursday afternoon.
Harrison Jr. will now in his father Marvin Harrison Sr's footsteps. The elder Harrison was a first-round selection by the Indianapolis Colts in the 1996 NFL Draft, taken No. 19 overall, and enjoyed a brilliant 13-year career in the league.
It was a decision that was widely expected, coming as a surprise to no one, with Harrison projected as a top-5 (or perhaps even a top-2) pick in the draft this spring.
Said Harrison in his announcement on Instagram:
First, I would like to thank God for blessing me with the abilities and great opportunity to play the game that I love at The Ohio State University. All Glory and praise to him.
I want to give thanks to everyone at The Ohio State University within and outside of the football program. Thank you to Gene Smith, my teammates, Coaches, Strength Staff, Trainers, Nutritionist, CJ Barnett, Equipment Services, Media Team, SASSO, and everyone working in the WHAC for helping me become the best person I can be on and off the field. The success that I have had individually could not have been accomplished without every single one of you and I appreciate you all for the help and support.
To my family and loved ones, thank and appreciate all the support and love that has been given to me throughout my life and the sacrifices made to get me to where l am today.
To Zone 6, there is not a better group of coaches and players that I would have wanted to spend my college career with. From the competition on the field, the long nights catching passes and watching film, to the bonding off the field, I will always appreciate the moments we had. Continue the Legacy.
To Buckeye Nation, the love I received from you all in the Shoe and on the road will be moments I cherish forever, and I hope I left lasting memories for you on the field. I appreciate the support these past three years. Buckeye for life.
With that said, I have decided to declare for the NFL draft. Truly a dream come true.
Go Bucks.
He now ends his Buckeyes career with 155 catches for 2,613 yards and 31 touchdowns, and as arguably the best receiver to ever step foot on the field for the Buckeyes, setting a Buckeyes record this season for the most 100-yard receiving games with 15 in a career.
This season alone, Harrison Jr. had 67 catches for 1,211 yards and 14 scores in one of the best single seasons in school history.
Ohio State Falls Flat In Cotton Bowl Loss to Missouri
As a result, Harrison was named a unanimous All-American, and a Heisman Trophy finalist. He was the only wideout to be nominated and the only non-quarterback position player.
Harrison is as much of a lock to be a top-10 pick as has been seen in Ohio State history, and when he is selected he is set to become the ninth Buckeyes wideout to be selected in the first three rounds in the last 10 seasons.
And he might be the very best of the bunch.
